was used to emphasize certain aspects of the film -- the Coraline Blu-ray 3D experience is complete. In terms of audio quality, this offers a new Dolby Atmos mix that took an already impressive 5.1 lossless surround presentation and made it even better. The Atmos brings with it a tasteful mix of both music and sound effects also in the height channels which will downright amaze you very early on. This is the best this film has ever sounded and as I said it already was incredible. unobtainable, at least in the world as it exists in the little corner in which Coraline resides. Hers is delivers an experience that seems to erase the boundaries of the speakers and engulf the listener into Ex-Lois Lane, Teri Hatcher, supplies the talent for mother and other mother, channelling her own maternal instincts for the harassed, hardworking but loving mother and mixes Susan Delfino with deeper scheming and malevolence for other mother – and there are real differences even in the same voice. This added with the animation of the puppet, especially the changing costumes to express the far more arachnid aspect of other mother, and you have a very sinister character. Father and other father are voiced by John Hodgman who has one of those silky, trusting voices. This is necessary for when other father is being controlled, he is still full of the sympathy needed to express the concern for Coraline, the outer body may be a bloated vision of horror, but that voice still wins our hearts.

The stop motion animation here was done by LAIKA Studios, founded in 2005 and based in Portland, Oregon, whose other projects include the films “ParaNorman” (2012), “The Boxtrolls” (2014), “Kubo and the Two Strings” (2016), and “Missing Link” (2019). Without dishing out any “spoilers” I’ll say that as boring as things are around the Pink Palace Apartments, Coraline is left to her own devices and that could include her fantasies as well, in all fairness. However, let’s just say that she might think some of the things seen in this “other” version of the apartment building are just the result of her imagination and perhaps not only dreams but there’s actually something a bit more sinister going on here. Universal's technical presentation is just as flawless. I didn't encounter any significant artifacting, banding (a regular offender in animated films), source noise, distracting artificial sharpening, or other post-production nonsense. A faint veneer of grain permeates the proceedings, but it only serves to enhance the filmic nature of the image. Simply put, Universal's video transfer is just as magnificent as Coraline's gorgeous animation. For once, I have nothing... literally nothing to complain about.

BD-Live Functionality: Universal has made it known that an exclusive interview with the director, as well as other BD-Live content, will be available when Coraline arrives next Tuesday. Coraline” on 4K UHD Blu-ray is presented in the original 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range.Dialogue is driven distinctly from the center channel speaker and there’s one very impressive amount of LFE to be felt via the subwoofer. This has great use of the rear channels as well, and that’s one thing that really made the original 5.1 surround mix so great for its time. Now, for those not listening in Atmos, in either 7.1 or 5.1 surround it has an excellent audio presentation as well. It all works together so well for this type of movie, with the music really helping drive things and even more so it feels to me with the addition of height channels to help emphasize the beautiful original score by Bruno Coulais. Making Puppets, Coraline's Closet, Setting the Stage: How Does Your Fantastic Garden Grow?, It's Alive, I've Seen Fire and I've Seen Fog, The Eyes picture it paints. Universal's Blu-ray 3D release of Coraline excels from the top down. Great movie, stunning technical presentation, and now The story is about a young girl named Coraline who moves with her family to a small town and discovers a parallel universe behind a secret door in their new house. The caveat here is that while the alternate universe is quite fun and zany, there's a sinister and evil entity lurking in the shadows that causes Coraline to come to terms with her lot in life and make amends with her family. Still, after more than a decade, this film is sweet, charming, and haunting and leaves some lasting visuals that will no doubt conjure up some nightmares.
