Description

There is heavy cloud cover throughout the year, with slightly cleared skies from December until March. The district is part of the Wet Zone in South-Western Sri Lanka. Consequently, rain falls throughout the year, with the highest precipitation in October and November, combined with low wind and medium humidity. Spring and summer experience lower but consistent rainfall, with gentle wind and increased humidity in April and May. Earl Grey pairs wonderfully with milk and can also be sweetened with sugar or honey to smooth out the tannins in the tea. Does Earl Grey contain caffeine? I often buy Tazo on Target runs because it’s both flavorful and super affordable—and this instance was no different. This is not a sweet Earl Grey; it’s on the bold side, reminding me more of coffee, with an earthy aroma and tart after taste. 10. Teavana: Earl Grey Crème To create this distinctive blend, our Tea Masters balance teas from the renown tea regions in Sri Lanka and India, to give the brew its lively, brisk flavour. This is complemented with a touch of exotic citrus from our exclusive bergamot flavouring. The larger leaves used in our loose leaf Earl Grey result in a more refined flavour, perfect for the discerning tea-lover. What is bergamot? Bergamot is a small citrus tree, probably a hybrid of sweet lime and bitter orange and grown commercially in Calabria, Italy. The flavour is delightfully citrussy and possesses known health benefits due to the high presence of flavonoids, which are thought to help lower inflammation and aid digestion.

CUSTOMS CHARGES: All commercial goods arriving from the UK are subject to VAT, Import Duty and a handling fee in the country receiving the goods. The city itself sits at 1,868 m above sea level. North of the city, Sri Lanka’s tallest mountain, Pidurutalagala, peaks at 2,542 m, and the revered Adam’s Peak sits on the Southern edge of the district, peaking at 2,243 m above sea level. The area is famous for its cool, temperate climate (Cfb), which made it a popular hill station in the 19th century, and a much-loved resort and health spa in the present day. Temperatures remain steadily warm throughout the year. March and April are the warmest months with an average high of 22°C and low of 11°C. The coldest months, form November to January, range from 9°C to 20°C. Just like the type of tea, the grade may have a bearing on the brewing method you choose. Lower-quality teas are often broken or smaller than higher-quality leaves. As a result, you’ll need to consider which vessel will best hold and filter your chosen tea. No one wants tea leaves in their teeth. Tea Ratio

The Earl Grey blend, or "Earl Grey's Mixture", is assumed to be named after Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey, British Prime Minister in the 1830s, who is famous for abolishing slavery but is equally well known for the tea named in his honor! Charles Grey reputedly received a gift of tea flavoured with bergamot oil as a result of his ending the monopoly held by the East India Company on trade between Britain and China. A "Grey's Tea" is known from the 1850s, but the first known published references to an "Earl Grey" tea are advertisements by Charlton & Co. of Jermyn Street in London in the 1880s. If you’re making a mug of loose-leaf Earl Grey tea or using an Earl Grey teabag, follow these steps for a delicious cuppa every time:From its introduction onto the British market in the mid-19th century, Earl Grey has been linked with afternoon teas and polite society. Much loved for its heady aromatics of citrus-tinged with spice, it hasn't been out of style since – as likely these days to be found in your kitchen caddy as on a hotel tea room menu. Our Earl Grey is a quintessentially English brew, perfect for those seeking an elegant, sophisticated cuppa. Soothing yet uplifting, it is one of our customers' highest-rated teas. Rich and well-rounded in flavour yet beautifully delicate, our Supreme Earl Grey has evenly graded, rolled wiry leaves and deep golden-amber colour. It's bright, citrusy and floral qualities invite you to slow down and take a breath, making it the perfect mid-morning or afternoon brew that can be enjoyed with or without milk. Look, I have found my tea soulmate and I am never letting go. Honorable Mention Sama Tea: Awaken & Energize Earl Grey For a lighter, fruitier alternative to this fragrant brew, try our Darjeeling Earl Grey, made with pieces of pure Calabrian bergamotor the more delicate Lady Mary Grey.

Earl Grey was invented in China but it was popularised by the British. Early Chinese masters were always experimenting with ways to make teas more exotic and flavoursome, and it’s believed that Earl Grey was created as a gift for Charles Grey, the 2 nd Earl of Grey and Prime Minister of the UK in the 1830s. What does Earl Grey taste like? First, the smell of Art of Tea’s offering is absolutely delectable—like being in an old-fashioned ice cream shop. Which made me concerned that it would be way too sweet, but the vanilla is so light, complementing the acidic quality of the citrus nicely. It’s a twist on classic Earl Grey, but leaves its bold taste intact. A very smooth tea that replaces the (more often found) lavender with notes of geranium and rose, adding a dash of floral complexity. This is also a pretty tea and, brewed in Rishi’s glass teapot, perfect to serve to guests when you want to be a little fancy. 7. Sama Tea: Awaken & Energize Earl GreyThis tea was super budget friendly, but the affordabilty doesn’t mean it skimps on flavor. It’s bright, bold, and the perfect tea to sip on all afternoon. The extra bergamot really stands out, and while I was worried it might be too tart, it was incredibly balanced. I tried a few of their other flavors too, but the double bergamot was just so good. 9. Tazo: Earl Grey This is a very classic Earl Grey—the kind of tea Ted Lasso would certainly hate—slightly tart with stronger notes of bergamot than some of the other teas. It doesn’t quite evoke the coffee shop feel (which I tend to associate with more complexity), but it does the job. Rich in antioxidants, Earl Grey tea is reported to improve your heart health, lower cholesterol and even aid weight loss. Why You Should Trust Our Earl Grey Tea

I really liked this tea — it smelled like warm honey mixed with a hint of vanilla. The quality of the tea was strong and the flavor was lovely — a little bitterness balanced with floral sweetness. However, the bergamot oil gets a little lost here. If I were craving Earl Grey, it probably wouldn’t be my first choice. 8. Stash Tea: Double Bergamot Earl Grey The one downside is that their tea is pricier than some of the others, but if you’re looking to splurge a little, it’s amazing. 3. Bigelow: Earl Grey The ideal temperature depends on the tea base. Some Earl Grey blends can burn if the water is too hot. While others will remain weak and tasteless if not brewed at the correct temperature. Steep Time Bonus: Twinings claims that Richard Twining was the first to recreate the tea for the Earl—so for any Earl Grey purists out there, this is your guy. 12. Vahdam Teas: Earl Grey Most deliverieswill be made within the usual time-frame, but some areas and services may experience delays.

Currently, there are some delays with sending parcels to EU countries from the UK. This is due to the UK leaving the European Union. We will keep you updated with any notifications as they happen. The amount of time you brew your Earl Grey is another important factor. Think about the prep time, how well the vessel retains heat, and how strong you like your cup of Earl Grey. Brewing Method
