This is simply applied to the filler once it has dried and will replicate the grain, copying from the surrounding area of the repair. The leather filler paste is a white compound that can be air or heat dried by using a hairdryer, it requires re-colouring with a leather repair pigment / paint after its application.Note that leather dyes are generally not suitable for covering leather repairs as they are transparent stains that do not provide coverage. Before application ensure the area you are applying the filler to is clean of dirt, Sandpaper can be used to smooth the edges of the repair area if required. It may therefore be necessary to use a paint or stain for leather and vinyl for an optimal rendering. Over time, leather can show some 'milage' in the form of scratches, scuffs, cracks and coatings delamination.
The leather on this MR2 was very badly worn on the side, a large hole had developed, and the leather was very badly scuffed. If you are selling your car or just want to keep it looking great with regards to your interior finish, then this leather care product will blow you away, period. The product filled in beautifully and the only flaws were due to my inexperience at texturizing the final layer (although others didn't see any problems with my repair job). I'm still working out the edges of the application to blend it with the leather but it can only be seen if looking for it. For scratches and general wear-and-tear on the colour surface we recommend smoothing the surface with the COLOURLOCK Leather Sanding Pad and refreshing the colour with COLOURLOCK Leather Fresh. We recommend applying several thin layers of filler, slowly building the filler up until it is flush with the leather. T his filling compound air dries in approximately 1 hour or can be force dried with a hairdryer for speedy repairs.
