About this deal

I would recommend this to children around ages 8-12 as I think they will be able to empathise most with the characters and the troubles they face. There’s nothing thirteen-year-old Adam wants more than to become a successful YouTuber, but it has always seemed impossible. Bursting with zany characters, comic strip illustrations and fact files on real artists, this hilarious tale is hugely entertaining.

When he accepts a mission to reach one million subscribers in one year, it becomes clear that he has bitten off way more than he can chew, and his life becomes one epic fail after another. Featuring bold black-and-white illustrations from James Lancett throughout, this brilliant, bright hardback will make the perfect Christmas gift for budding young YouTubers everywhere! The days of wishing to become a popstar are over and so many children in the classroom these days dream of becoming the next You Tube sensation. This is definitely a must-read book, just don’t expect hot drinks to stay hot cos you’ll be so absorbed in what you’re reading that the time will just slip by - Amanda G.

Polly Crosby tells ReadingZone about her novel, This Tale is Forbidden (Scholastic), a fractured fairy tale set in a dystopian world. A superbly funny debut comedy story … A wonderful read, full of fun but, above all, heart and a clear message to not give up on your dreams. Fans of Greg James and Chris Smith, David Baddiel, and Noel Fitzpatrick's Vetman will be spellbound. Adam's unlikely dream of becoming a Youtube sensation becomes a miraculous reality - but holding onto fame and fortune is not that easy in the pacey and fun-filled children's debut from the Blue Peter presenter and online star. Candy Gourlay introduces Wild Song, her companion novel to Bone Talk, in which Luki and Samkad leave their home in the Philippines for America.

Biography: Adam Beales, known as AdamB, is a one of the UK's biggest YouTubers and children's television presenters. There are some really comical moments in the book that will make children laugh out loud but also emotional at some points. In the dizzy haze of posh hotels and fancy TVs, he stupidly accepts the challenge to reach one million subscribers in one year and it soon becomes clear he's not quite cut out for what lies ahead. For Adam this isn't only the stuff of dreams - he has one friend, no camera, and no money - hence no chance of becoming anything famous, let alone an internet sensation.

The cover is really eye-catching and I can see lots of children being drawn to this on my bookshelf. As if by magic, Adam is thrown into a world of FAME, FORTUNE and hotels with really, really, really FANCY TVs! When Jonno discovers a dead body at school, he and fellow classmates Daniel and Lydia launch their own murder investigation. Everybody dreams of becoming a superstar YouTube sensation, but for Adam - a penniless, cameraless nobody, with only one friend - it isn't just a dream, it's a complete and utter, NEVER-GOING-TO-HAPPEN-IN-A-MILLION-YEARS, absolute impossibility! But fame and fortune can’t last forever, and Adam finds himself in a race against time to remember what’s truly important.

He co-presented the CBBC show The Dog Ate My Homework and, in September 2020, he became the 40th presenter of Blue Peter. Suddenly he’s making big money off adverts, flying his mum and brother to Ibiza for amazing holidays, and putting on a live show at the London Arena – even the school bully wants to be his friend!

Ross Welford introduces Time Travelling with a Tortoise, the sequel to Time Travelling with a Hamster, and a whole new time travel adventure! I am not usually a huge fan of 'celebrity author' books but this one certainly has a place on my bookshelf. This is a touchingly human story, tremendously funny, glittering with authenticity and a wonderful thing to connect with - Tesse, NetGalley reviewer You may also be interested in.

But Adam is no fool and he still had a few tricks up his sleeve to turn things around in his favour! He is known for his illustrations for Lightning Girl by Alesha Dixon, the Avengers Assembly graphic novels, Max Einstein by James Patterson and many others. As Adam starts accumulating more and more subscribers to his new video channel, his popularity starts to get out of control.
