I wasn’t sure that I’d like the length of it but once I was working with the pen, I forgot all about it. Another downside to this nib is that if I use Noodler’s bulletproof black in it, it doesn’t come out very black because the nib lays down the ink so thinly. It’s not super flexible but you will see some line variation when you draw normally with a little pressure. The most comfortable pen I've ever used and the nibs glides, and hasn't as yet drags, across different grades of paper. The ribs on the section are what really annoyed me in this pen, because these ribs cut very unpleasantly into my fingers.

The sleeve has the Rotring logo, Germany 1928, and the product name on it, along with pen details on the back. The grip section has a series of ribs the section being quite lengthy so the finger position can move up and down for a more comfy writing position.If anything, the ink probably flows a little too well – by the end of my test doodle, I had an unexpected inky patch on the end of one of my fingers and I noticed that rapid strokes drawn without care will result in a more noticeable hook mark than other pens that I use.

I think the nibs on the Rotring come complete with the section a bit similar to the TWSBI idea, I haven't pulled that apart, ever, so I cannot tell you if it is possible. Although taking this pen apart was quite similar to the Carbon Desk Pen, I had to use a hairdryer and a lot of grip and strength to unscrew the front section of the pen. Also noticed it misuses strokes all the time I have to keep going over my line's also the ink is only water resistant not waterproof big difference paint to close to this ink with say yellow or white and the ink bleeds into the wet paint. As you would expect of Lyra, the art pen is an excellent andversatile addition to any artists range.The Lyra Art Pen is a superb, artist quality tool for allcolouring techniques, artistic drawing and sketches. My only slight concern with its feed is that I can’t reach that inner part of the feed to wash it out if ink gets caked in there.
