About this deal

Cued Articulation’s particular benefit for ESOL and EAL is that it is both a visual and cognitive approach to tackling pronunciation difficulties. Its potential and practicality is widespread and utilised by speech pathologists, speech and language therapists, remedial and reading recovery teachers who find the approach helpful in showing phonemegrapheme relationships; and primary teachers who use it in the classroom to teach children the sounds of speech.

Supporting understanding of phonics in this was allows children to begin to blend and segment for reading and writing. Participants were 154 children, aged four to five years, attending a mainstream setting in the South-East of England. This book, with accompanying cards, is a wonderful aid in teaching the articulation of consonant and vowel sounds of English. It is useful for speech pathologists, speech and language therapists, remedial and recovery teachers and primary teachers in the classroom. Each video in set one has the letter sound through cued articulation then letter name through finger spelling and then a word in pictures and signed that begins with that letter.

It includes the colour coding that is central to the program, and provides examples of each sound within everyday words. Log in The main round application deadline for a school place in Year R for September 2024 has now closed, however you can still make a "Late" application. They are easy to learn and help children with auditory processing difficulties to "see" the difference between similarly sounding, paired voiced and unvoiced letter sounds e. The hand movements are logical – each hand movement represents one sound and the cue gives clues as to how and where the sound is produced.

I use it most for word final sound discrimination; you let the child try on their own, but if they can’t quite hear the sound I model the word again but sign the final sound. The really clever bit about Cued Articulation is that it gives information about all of this in a single sign! The previously separate titles Cued Articulation and Cued Vowels are now combined and updated, with this edition covering consonants, vowels, demonstrative images and full colour coding throughout. NON-HAMPSHIRE, OUT OF COUNTY SCHOOLS AND SETTINGS – All schools, settings and other organisations outside of Hampshire will be charged a 15% surcharge on top of the standard cost. Children often miss out some of the consonants in the middle of longer words, so you can sign the ones they miss out.

Cued Articulation can be used for individuals, pairs and small groups and also as an adjunct to basic literacy work in whole-class teaching.find Cued Articulation such a practical resource for people with a wide range of communication difficulties. The systematic literature review examines the effect of multisensory phonics instruction on children’s word-recognition skills. We both find Cued Articulation really useful for teaching new sounds – it really helps children to have a sign to attach to the sound. I know one school that have adopted Cued Articulation instead of the jolly phonics actions as they find it so useful.
