About this deal

It was originally inspired by Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire where Churchill’s ancestors, the Dukes of Marlborough, were seated. Good ingredients and measured application rather than mindboggling originality are the key to these pleasing creations, it seems to me. One commenter below said it reminded them of the hot flannels you get in some restaurants and on planes and I can totally see what they mean. This is one of those scents everyone should smell to understand some of where perfumery has come from.

The first time I tried this was when I bought a men's gift set (4x5ml scents) to re-familiarize myself with the Penhaligon's brand after 13 years. Fresh, invigorating, sparkly for the mature male with a sense of egotism for the finer things in life much like the Duke of Marlborough from Blenheim Castle whom it was made for. I was trying to swim and crawl, I reached the surface of the sea water finally by somehow, but the air I could breathe was filled by grey smoke regrettably. The scent isn't very creative in today's market but imagining it nearly 120 years ago is pretty amazing.and Penhaligon's are never usually shy on the lavender front, not with their perfumes i have with that note. Whilst it does provide a tangible scent, Blenheim Bouquet performs reasonably well and gives an average albeit tight projection with a respectable sillage. I was looking for a Summertime Pine fragrance, so I purchased Creed Epicea, Dior Granville, and Byredo Gypsy Water. Walter Penhaligon created Blenheim Bouquet for the 9th Duke of Marlborough with notes of lemon, spice and wood as a tribute to the best British gin. Whilst the cedar is quite faint, it downplays the sharp pine and works well with the labdanum to create a subtle plant-based musk.

ground a year previously and left out in the open for months (no kid uses pepper, other than for pranks). After a short while, the wearer will begin to experience the musky base that is comprised of labdanum and cedarwood. Considering it is over 100 years old it still remains as modern and discreet as the day it was created. As it settles the citrus and lavendar fade significantly and the pine starts to take the stage with a slight peppery undertone. At first I didn't care too much for this scent, but because of the bottle design I kept reaching for it.

I always thought of this as a summer fragrance, but it's the perfect scent for this time of year and the low temperature. Physicians, psychiatrists and counselors, clergy, academics, and judges should consider this as a choice for the workplace. Nevertheless, I’m still in my late twenties and thoroughly enjoy it so it can be worn when younger as long as you have the attitude to go with it.Penhaligon's was, at least until desperation and Christian Provenzano walked through the door, the epitome of aristocratic fragrance. I remember he looked me straight in the eye across his spectacles, and through them I could see his eyes becoming glassy.

The best way I can describe this is an eau de cologne trying to be a fougere, and failing miserably. I know that sentence doesn't convey the adoration I have for it, but that's really what it smells like. Rather than being a linear experience where each of the notes express themselves separately, they work together in a symphony of aromas. The fragrance takes me to a woodland of a morning with a cool breeze, surrounded by pine trees of which very prominent to me in this fragrance. As of the lavender, I do not get too much of it however you can definitely acknowledge its presence and I do appreciate it for not being too overpowering and letting the pine and pepper being the main face of the fragrance, overall, i really enjoy the smoky, piney and citrus themes and find it to be rather unique, and very British smelling, reminiscent of the English countryside. As is with most traditional eau de cologne, Blenheim Bouquet cycles extremely quickly through its notes. Just wait 15 minutes or so before you walk outside with it, or you are going to have some stoners with the munchies following you looking for fruit loops.
