For less serious gamers or for a game that you just want to break out and have a good time with, however, without the hassle of learning too many rules or for much younger players, you could do a lot worse than checking out the charmingly packaged Happy Little Accidents. All players present their drawings at the end of the round, and have a chance to explain how the drawing represents the concept. You also get a teeny pad of paper (I’ve played the game about eight total times and it’s already run out) along with a deck of cards with the topic suggestions. Each of these has a box on the card which shows which colors of paint are necessary to paint it as well as which sort of brush or tool is needed.

Bob Ross: The Art of Chill captures the iconic paintings and gives players a unique experience that is a lot of fun. The possible features are Fluffy Clouds, Almighty Mountains, Wondrous Water, Charming Cabins, and Happy Little Trees. It wasn’t that long ago that a game being based on a familiar media property – whether that be a book, film, comic or video game – would simply be lazily layered onto a roll-and-move style design. Earn a Technique card – If you have a pair of cards in your hand which match one of the four face-up Technique cards, you can discard them and take the matching Technique card from the display. Celebrate your creativity in this positive party game inspired by the wisdom of legendary painter Bob Ross. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. The Bob Ross: Art of Chill game is part of the impressive collection of games available at Target this fall.

You take one of your colored markers and place it on the top most available space of that feature on the scoreboard.Players continue to take turns until someone reaches a maximum chill of 30 points, at which point they win the game instantly. To paint a feature, you must have exactly the paint color combination on one or both sides of your palette – you may NOT have any extra paint cards at all though; it must be an exact match. Each player pulls a random slip of paper; then all players have 30 seconds to turn their scribble into a representation of the chosen word. It wasn’t widely available in the UK until the popularity of streaming services really exploded here – and after hearing so many good things about the late artist from my American friends, I couldn’t wait to find out what all the fuss was about.

Each of the seven colors of paint also has a name, and the colors are sometimes referred to only by name – and I wish that there was a more uniform method of depicting the colors (i. Demonstrating further that the publishers have gone to the nth degree with their component design, each player has a thick cardboard palette for readying their paints to apply to their chosen feature. The game can be explained in seconds, and even those who feel they don’t have a creative bone in their body can have a good time. Ric taught us how to play the game, we got the kids involved and just days later had to purchase this great game. Once everyone has completed three drawings, each person chooses one favorite among their own drawings and places it face-up in the middle, and it’s time to vote! Happy Little Accidents isn’t the only Bob Ross game out there – with the excellent Art of Chill being the other – but it is the simpler of the two on offer. Does this 2017 release from Big G Creative paint a beautiful portrait or does it feel like a toddler’s finger painting?

When my friend Ric told me that Bob Ross: The Art of Chill was one of his top 5 games of 2017, I struggled to take him seriously.

If you want to paint with Bob Ross, you need to be chill, so whoever reaches maximum chill first in Bob Ross: Art of Chill Game wins. This gives you an immediate 2 points along with a bonus point each time that paint or brush type is used in your painting. But after playing Bob Ross: Happy Little Accidents with several different groups of people, I can say that this game seems to capture the spirit of Bob a little better than the first, even if there are fewer game elements than in the first. I’ll admit that I’m a bit confused by them all – but I do believe that Prospero Hall is the name of the group that is responsible for the most strategic end of their games.
