Kaleb struggles to connect, because of his pain of being forgotten by someone who should’ve loved him enough never to forget. TL;DR: This book is not going to be for everyone but I’m glad I gave Penelope Douglas another try with this book. All three men routinely hook up with other women and even bring them back home while Tiernan is in the house. and i knew that this would be longish, and that’s one of the reasons i didn’t read it at first, but then i thought, you know what? Noah was like a cute little puppy who just wanted love and attention and to talk to someone and I liked his cheeky playful attitude.

but honestly, the last 30ish % should've started in the middle instead of at the end so there were more scenes with Tiernan and the guy she chooses. And of course you cant have all that heat and not have an outlet, some of the HOTTEST SEX I've read. While most of the book is seen through Tiernan’s POV, we do get chapters from the three guys and I thought it was clever how PD changed those as the story went on in tandem with the shift of ‘love interests’.The entire situation they find themselves in is quite outrageous (obvs) and it was… definitely something!

There's all kinds of "not like other girls" type lines, and naturally, Tiernan is a gold star virgin that they all fight over, and some sexual stuff happens well before she turns eighteen, although they don't bang her until she is eighteen, thank GOD. While all the characters were distinct, I found myself partial to Jake, who was so well-developed in the first half and I loved how his 'relationship' with Tiernan evolved as she got closer to all three of them—though it was not smooth sailing by any means and some scenes were definitely harder to read.

she did really stupid things sometimes too which i don’t even care to get into, but she annoyed me so much. PD really built the characters and their dynamic up well, but I was a little disappointed with how certain things just fizzled out. and if you’re gonna “need” somebody like that, the least you can do is pick people better than them 💀. and if you count the fire and fights and kaleb disappearing into the woods and all of that, i don’t even count that as things happening because it was all so random and made absolutely no sense whatsoever.
