About this deal

Me my husband my 2 fifteen year old sons and my 17 year old daughter, my sister and brother in law came to. I suppose it could come across as fairly abstract; but if you’ll engage the imagination the artwork goes together really well to create a fun, if slightly dry, picture of Glasgow, Scotland. We put all extra pieces in a bag and just kept one of each token to move up and down the tracks on our players boards. In Glasgow, players travel the city (in an abstract manner) to collect resources, take special actions, and most important of all construct buildings.

So I set about layin’ down the designs and buildin’ which put that pretty lass at quite the disadvantage. In such cases it can be worth skipping over two or three resource or building activation tiles, which will give your opponent a lot of control over what happens during the next few turns. Been here many times with my daughter, but this was my sons first time on roller skates, the staff were amazing with him, didn't get the guys name sorry, but by the end of the 90 mins my son was confidently skating away, will definitely be back. Enjoy three hours of gaming in R-CADE's retro video game arcade with access to their specialised table top party games as part of their Over 18's Retro Gaming Sessions! In Glasgow you and one other player are city planners tasked with building up Glasgow as they put in subway stations around the city to try and make Glasgow a thriving metropolis for ages to come.

This is as simple as trading in any resources needed when landing on an architect space, and then placing the building anywhere in the grid with its arrow pointing towards you. Overall Glasgow is a game which I greatly enjoyed my time with, however the power of certain building combos leads to a certain play-style being dominant over our games. Amazing what an experience I highly recommend that you should try this out it's so much better than expected! Glasgow is a race location and thus has two routes to choose from; Glasgow and Glesga (the city's Scottish Gaelic name). Buildings with good abilities have lesser point values come end game scoring, and some buildings score more or less depending on their positioning within the grid.

My wife, on the other hand, really liked that there were nice, easy choices that often felt meaningful and rewarding, but which rarely came with real peril. This provides players with the conundrum of whether to jump ahead and get what they want but leave the other player lots of “free” moves. From the latest theatre events and live music performances to local activities and fantastic attractions, we keep you up to date daily! Glasgow: that fair Scottish city of never ending rain, cold, and depression…but hey, they’ve got a subway that was built in the 1890s, and you can be a part of the city planning that put it there in this 2-player ring-around-the-rosey tile-laying game of city planning without planning too far ahead. Thankfully, once we got the game setup, we found Glasgow to be surprisingly light and breezy, in comparison with the much more complex Foothills. It's easy to fall into the trap of spending too long setting yourself up only to realize you've thrown away half the game and have nothing to show for it but a pile of bricks.

It would have been better if the boards had zero spaces and you were expected to just move the markers up and down. Afterwards both players count their victory points and the player with the most points wins the game!Sadly for Glasgow, it shares the same Klemens Franz artwork as Foothills, which my wife found particularly dull.

Taxi drivers have an opinion on every subject, land on one of the ‘Sound-Off’ squares and it’s your turn to sound-off like a cabbie. Lisboa Light…like, really really light, and not using any of the same mechanics and not about the same city or time period and far happier and…you know what, never mind.

In Glasgow, you’ll almost always edge forwards unless you deal (during setup) a run of “rubbish” placements and then there happens to be something really good at the end of them.
