This electronic LeapReader pen and its accompanying books is something we will definitely recommend to fellow parents. This book is sort of a sneak peek into how awesome the pen can be and contains a preview of all the other LeapReader books and interactive activities that one can purchase and use with the pen. Not that it consists entirely of struggles and no benefits, but the fact that the transition for parents may be challenging, totally hinders the process of excitement.

Bought this for my sons 5th birthday because he has the other LeapPads and already, after only two days, he loves it. His letter and number formation is a bit sloppy still so I am using the writing books with Mr Pencil to help him improve. Each book includes lively character voices that spark interest and interactive activities that help build reading confidence by introducing vowel sounds, sight words, word blending, spelling skills and more.Leapfrog were useless and in the end it went in the bin and I had a very unhappy little boy and a bunch of useless books. It taught him where the tallest waterfall is, where the pyramids are, and where the great wall of China is. is one of the leader in innovative solutions that encourage a child's curiosity and love of learning throughout their early developmental journey. The Tag pen device works with specially made books which include an optical pattern of dots too small to disturb the reader. We really like this product and would only think that a carry bag and a little off the RRP would make it better.

Was well worth the hassle and the wait as I now have a worth while reading tool to help my 6 year old who struggles with reading and writing and finds it's very hard to engage in anything remotely educational. This includes downloading whichever audiobook or companion audio you want for your LeapReader book which you can then upload onto your pen by connecting it to your computer.

With the book and position known, the Tag device looks up the appropriate audio to play for that location in the book and plays it. Because Tag readers are designed with both full reading and individual word recognition this allows for differentiation.

The LeapReader pen is easy for little hand to hold, simple for parents to change and is a sleek and stylish design. I wasn't sure if it would just be a novelty that would soon lose interest but I liked the concept of using real books rather than a Leappad tablet.

He also really enjoys the audiobooks with his headphones on - they are a great introduction to longer story CDs that he isn't ready for yet but will be in the future.
