About this deal

His status in life blinds all those around him to the fact that he is a serial killer, which is actually quite humorous. fact been some high frequency filtering applied here, but if so, it hasn't materially affected fine detail levels in my estimation. American Psycho makes a glorious Ultra HD Blu-ray debut courtesy of Lionsgate, who afford it a native 4K presentation complete with all the glorious added benefit of Dolby Vision.

It originally came out as a new release in 2000, right after its theatrical run, in both R and unrated editions. com is an Introducer Appointed Representative of Pay4Later Limited, trading as Deko, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 728646). The acting is generally excellent, Christian Bale able to portray both sides of Bateman flawlessly, with similar turns from Reese Witherspoon, Willem Defoe and Jared Leto. The pretty boys and girls around him are all vacant, like Walt Stillman's 'Metropolitan' populated with zombies. In the same way Beetlejuice watches The Exorcist, American Psycho just keeps getting funnier every time I see it.

My thoughts on the original 4K UHD of the film can be found in my American Psycho 4K Blu-ray review. It is very rare we get a distaff perspective on the horror genre, so even if you only listen to Harron's commentary, it's worth it. Too bad Lionsgate couldn't have gone with a BD-50 dual-layer disc for this release and squeezed in the rest of the extras.

The colour scheme brings the richly cream-and-wood-dominated palette to life with panache, soaking up deep hues, and rendering solid, impenetrable black levels undoubtedly courtesy of that extra Dolby Vision enhancement. Well things do go bump in the night here in both the score and the “Hip To Be Square” soundtrack, but also the chainsaw, gunshots and even explosions near the film’s end when Bateman’s brain is seemingly melting. Based on a controversial best-seller, but produced several years after the book's buzz had faded (and then mis-marketed as a horror flick instead of the satire it really is), it is now a true cult film, and worth investigating for those with a taste for very acerbic black humor.
