I personaggi umani stanno in città, mentre quelli dalle sembianze non umane stanno nella cosiddetta Farm, Fattoria, qualche decina di miglia a nord della città. Cinderella Libertine (Issue 22) was actually placed before the March of the Wooden Soldiers arc in this Compendium but in the volumes it’s listed here so I’ll put my mini review here! The pace does lag at times, and it loses some of its momentum after they defeat the first big bad, but there are some real gems among the later arcs and the ending has a nice sense of closure. A book leaves our collection of over seven million titles and begins a new chapter every two seconds, enabling more goods to be reused.

I will admit that it took me a few arcs for me to really get invested (I also dislike how ugly Pinocchio's face is), but after the excellent one-shot The Last Castle, I was fully on board. He’s not the only person who’ll be cut adrift during the series, which progresses through a fair amount of present day time, and almost everyone from a broad cast eventually has a turn in the spotlight. It was revived in 2022 with a 12-issue continuation to the main series, as well as a 6-issue spin-off miniseries Batman vs.Questo singolo numero (Nel mentre) che fa da intervallo a Homelands mostra Fabletown durante la missione di Blue. Also, Snow White was so rude at the end there with how she swindled everyone by using governmental technicalities—talk about Lawful Neutral lol!

His best work is not in this first volume, but seems to hit a better, more consistent style in later volumes.I thought that the underlying mystery/tale of Snow having seven children instead of the six we saw—and the seventh child being a rogue invisible wind spirit who accidentally killed some fables—was very interesting to see. This compendium captures all the branching fables that intersect our heroes stories - from Jack of Fables and The Literals, to the classic short story Werewolves of the Heartland. Semplice, veloce, la storia funziona alla grande e approfondisce un personaggio che si vede parecchio in questi primi numeri. I feel like we’re getting closer to knowing who the Adversary is, and we learned many new details such as the fact that Gepetto is the one designing the wooden army…and I have a theory he might actually be the Adversary himself, but this series has always kept me on my toes so far!
