About this deal
The canopy is pretty much silent when opening and closing, so there’s no fear of waking a napping baby.
The Maclaren Techno XT’s five-point safety harness opens and closes with ease, and all of our parent testers strongly agreed it felt both secure and sat comfortably against their child’s body. The brakes on the Techno are single-action brakes linked in the back, so you only need to press one side of the pedals. This stroller has all-wheel shocks and a nicely padded seat with additional comfort inserts to provide the baby with a pretty cozy ride and place for napping. Maclaren sell the Techno XT as a pushchair which can be used from birth, inclusive of a head support, shoulder straps, head and food barrier for extra safety of slipping around, and 5-point harness, however I would prefer to use from around one year old.The only problem I have noticed is although the seat is padded, the frame that runs along the spine of the seat is quite uncomfortable and sometimes leaves my son with a red mark on the back of his head. True to Maclaren style, the umbrella fold mechanism is foolproof (although granny finds it a bit too stiff).
The Techno XT was also released in limited editions belonging to Maclaren Objects of Design: collaboration with BMW M, classical Albert Thurston model to pay tribute to the inventor of suspenders and Spitfire, the aircraft inspired version to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Maclaren brand. All of our testers agreed that the wheels are high-quality, and the majority of testers also found the Techno XT was able to handle curbs with ease. I also really like the wide side “barriers” on the seat that offer extra side support for a younger child. It is 13″ wide with an 18″ seat back and a measurement of 26″ from the back of the seat to the top of the canopy. Try and read our stroller cleaning and maintenance guide here, I talk a bit about fabric cleaning and fading (and what to do and not).
