About this deal

I make/sell a hotshoe sight rail that allows you to use any red dot sight of your choosing; and there are others as well. Will usually dispatch within same working day if paid before 13:30 GMT (excludes weekends and holidays). I sometimes use an extender to get the EE-1 in front of the camera; because I wear hats and the EE-1 gets in the way when trying to use the EVF. Duologi is a trading name of Specialist Lending Ltd, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (register number 774712 ). The OM-1's subject recognition is not perfect and sometimes fails, but using the dot sight isn't the reason.

Photographing a bird in flight with loads of space around it is manageable, but as soon as the bird gets close enough to nearly fill the frame, it really gets difficult—for the camera, the lens and the photographer. This should then result in you being able to use the dot sight to focus on subjects in the distance. People at my local camera club have been asking me about my EE-1 Dot Sight and asking if anybody, apart from Olympus (or OMDS) makes them.Acquistato più per sfizio che per necessità, provato da poco quindi non mi esprimo sulla durata nel tempo. If you choose Release priority over Focus, you will take more shots but you won’t have any clue at all about how the camera is focusing since your eye won’t be on the LCD screen most of the time.

An alternative is to calibrate the sight against a target at infinity (or at a high distance), measure the distance between lens axis and sight, which is about 90 mm with the EE-1 on-camera (i. e., about the width of four fingers), then point the circle-and-cross 90 mm above the center of the intended field of view. Unfortunately there must be other factors at play as when I line up the dots- it was not in fact calibrated for whatever reason. I find this bearable since I can always just press it lightly to right while I raise my camera to make sure it is in the position I calibrated it in.

It does work quite well although it's a little counter intuitive at first, you just have to remember it's actually on the camera in the initial excitement of that rare BIF just entering your field of vision! I also find it helpful to use a camera strap such as the Peak Design Slide or Slide Lite to stop my arms from extending too much.

When open for use, the EE-1 looks very fragile, with almost all parts in sight made from thin plastic or sheet metal, and definitely not as sturdy as the red-dot sights of handguns (some of which look so heavy and sharp-cornered that they might take down a target just by throwing the dot-sight at it). Reproduction in whole or part in any form or medium without specific written permission is prohibited. You use a scope that also brings a bit of the surroundings into view, so that you can orient better and thus aim more quickly at your subject. The fact that a dot-sight projects the target pattern at infinity means that, if you are short-sighted, you must wear prescription glasses or contact lenses to use this type of sight. The reticle’s precision is not affected so as long as you keep it on your subject it will remain at the centre of the frame. It's easier with both eyes open which, I suspect, is how you'll want to shoot anyway, but it's doable even with one closed. When you place the red dot on the subject, you can easily keep track of the subject and keep the subject in the frame without having to look at your vieuwfinder or LCD screen. Try the trick of keeping both eyes open and the free eye will give you heaps of peripheral vision when tracking.
