About this deal

The Inventor Fresh12L dehumidifier isn't built by one of the "big 3" manufacturers (EcoAir, Meaco and Ebac). Even so, it's proven to be a h ighly popular budget dehumidifie r that's great for removing water from room-temperature environments.

Anyone who’s read our quiet fan article, you’ll be familiar with the Pro Breeze brand. This Quiet Mark certified model comes with a 12L capacity and a whole range of features which rival the MeacoDry above. 12L extraction per day should be enough for standard sized rooms and the daily build up which might occur. This British family-run company makes both compressor and desiccant units and this is its award-winning flagship compressor model. It’s not the prettiest of appliances, granted, but you know what's uglier? Mould up your walls.Trying to find the best quiet dehumidifier can be difficult if you don’t know what to look for. There are so many different models out there that it can be hard to narrow it down. If you want to choose the best dehumidifier for your needs, you will want to consider the following: Noise level Other features include a three litre water tank, automatic shut-off when the tank is full, and a continuous drainage option. You'll need a floor-level drain to use a continuous drainage hose though, which is impractical for most homes. The Pro Breeze also has "Smart" features that aren't found on older dehumidifiers. For example, there's an app for controlling the target humidity and viewing the current humidity level. You can also choose from three modes and create schedules. This EcoAir model can extract up to seven litres of moisture per day, and as a desiccant-type dehumidifier, it works at lower temperatures than your average refrigerant device.

With a two-litre tank, it might need emptying more regularly than some models, but there’s a 1m hose if you need continuous draining into a sink or drain. And while there’s no timer, you do get a laundry mode and a choice of quiet and turbo functions, and the rotary control is – as advertised – simple and easy to use. Meaco claims that Zambezi has six"world firsts" for a desiccant dehumidifier. These include a digital display, which is usually only found on refrigerant models, and a sterilising ioniser. The Zambezi also includes Meaco's Energy Saving Laundry+, for drying clothes fast, and a daily timer. The only downside is it doesn’t come in a larger capacity, but if 1.2L is all you need, this will definitely be a great addition to rooms less than 15 sqm. The MeacoDry is extremely quiet which we recorded at 36 dB. This is slightly over what they claim of 35 dB, but the difference is negligible. This makes this model an terrific choice to keep noise low, and for use in high traffic area where you don’t want to be disturbed. Bedrooms for example. If it’s in a different room you won’t hear it at all. If in the same room, you’ll hear an extremely low humming noise. The water level can be verified with ease through a plastic window. The tank is easy to remove, but it fills near the top so you should be careful when doing it.

What is the best dehumidifier for my needs?

Inventor Dehumidifier Fresh 12L/Day (R290) provides a continuous dehumidification mode, which is very helpful and effective to eliminate the extreme humidity, condensation on windows and even to dry clothes. This particular compressor model boasts a moisture extraction rate of 10.26 litres per day and comes with a 2.6-litre container which will need to be emptied from time to time (thankfully the unit turns itself off when full). However, a 12-litre and new 20-litre version are also available for those with bigger rooms. Drainage - The dehumidifier comes with a hose which can be connected to a drainage outlet. This means that extracted water is drained away without needing to stop the unit. Therefore, you can run the dehumidifier continuously, ensuring top performance and a consistently low humidity. If you have no drain available, then water can go into a water tank which needs emptying every so often. When this tank is full, the unit will automatically switch off. COMMERCIAL-GRADE WATER RESTORATION: This commercial dehumidifier is specifically designed to effectively combat excessive moisture and assist in water restoration projects. With a removal capacity of up to 180 pints per day at saturation, an air output of 210 CFM, and coverage of up to 2,300 sq. ft., it provides the ideal solution for efficient moisture control and restoration in residential, commercial, or industrial spaces. One option is kerbside collection for small electrical items – in many cases, your local council will collect smaller items such as toasters and kettles. Alternatively, you can drop items at a local recycling centre, or hand them over to retailers that have their own recycling schemes.

The Xaxazon is a smallest dehumidifier on our list, but the perfect size for really small rooms, cupboards or caravans. Due to it’s size, this model will struggle in medium/large sized rooms as there won’t be much of a difference in humidity level.Bear in mind that UK winter temperatures are lower than the actual test temperatures which were likely to be 30°C and 80% relative humidity. So while the stated extraction rate is 12 litres the actual extraction rate might only be around 5 litres. The unit has a very low noise level, in a range of 41 dB – 43dB, and also provides a Silent mode that works with a lowest fan speed during the night, without disturbing your sleep.

The type of dehumidifier you choose will depend on the conditions of the space you want to use it in. Honestly, despite this being a mid-range item, you could make a strong argument that this is the best-value dehumidifier on this list, as the design and quality of this particular unit is remarkable. Heating controls are made to improve your user experience. If well utilised, it will save you energy, time, and money. It will also protect you from potential safety hazards. Below are some of the controls you should utilise. Even the quietest dehumidifier can't claim to be silent - at least if it uses electricity. Manufacturers often describe machines as having "silent" modes, but in reality this means they have a setting to reduce sound output.

Dry out your home for healthier living with the best dehumidifiers tried and tested

You can expect a slightly reduced extraction rate of 10L a day but this is still an excellent dehumidifier. Another advantage of this model is that it is cheaper than the 12L and will still do a good job in small to medium houses with mild to moderate damp issues. The Meaco has four main operating modes: Humidistat lets you choose your target humidity between 30 and 80%rh (relative humidity); Laundry makes use of the 280m³/hour fan speed to dry clothes; Quiet turns off the beeper and lowers the fan speed; and Auto mode regulates the compressor and fan speed to retain an ideal balance of 50% humidity. It even has a built-in ionizer to help clean the air. The dehumidifier has a built-in humidity sensor. When the desired humidity level is reached, the sensor will automatically stop the dehumidifier, saving energy and lowering your bills. If the humidity level rises, the unit will resume its operation Our full Meaco DD8L Zambezi dehumidifier review reveals how this one compares with others on the market.
