Japan Tobacco Inc have been playing with heat-not-burn in various guises for a while. Admittedly, early attempts weren’t particularly commercial successes (compared to other manufacturers early forays). I tried one of the early JTI Ploom Tech devices in 2016 and was underwhelmed by the experience. Ploom isn’t yet available in the US, so doesn’t have the same FDA status as IQOS. However, it is allowed to be marketed in the UK without the same graphical warnings as cigarettes. The cutting-edge device, adopts the aesthetic and innovative “Nastro” design with a more intuitive user experience, with no buttons on its surface. In addition to the ability to precisely control heating temperature, Ploom X is equipped with a new heating technology, HEATFLOW ®, which focuses on air flow, significantly improving user experience. Iluma Prime has been changed to a format in which a magnetic wrap cover like stage curtain is opened and the holder is taken out. I felt the first impression was a little heavy. The actual weight is 141g.

If you’re going to spend your money, spend it somewhere else. I would rather have my head in a microwave shared with camel turds, than use this product again. But there’s a lot on the flip-side too. IQOS is a more established device, and feels more refined. Most importantly, for me, it delivers a more consistent and satisfying experience (although it’s also far from perfect). For gadget fans, it does feel “cooler,” more stylish, and more luxurious. The Ploom X Advanced boasts a faster heating time, outpacing its predecessor, the Ploom X, ensuring you can savor your tobacco moments with minimal wait. Its ergonomic pebble shape is designed to seamlessly fit into your palm, offering a comfortable and stylish experience. Convenient and Effortless Cleaning Even though IQOS and the Ploom kit share the same goal, it’s obvious when you place them side by side that they’ve gone about achieving it in totally different ways. The first thing that caught my eye when comparing these two devices is the size difference. While the Ploom X is the smaller device overall, fitting neatly into my palm, the IQOS holder is noticeably smaller, with a shape and size akin to a cylindrical pen-style disposable vape.Always use the “intense” mode, activated by waiting for two vibrations when you power on the device.
