About this deal

Heroine is a Mary Sue of the worse variety. It’s a Cinderella story (even has a magical creature loving on her while she scrubs windows). Heroine is so kind and thoughtful and stands-up-for-the-little-guy. She sews beautiful clothing and takes whatever abuse is heaped on her shoulders without complaining or thinking evilly of her abusers. She’s also stunningly gorgeous (even in her half-starved, abused state) but doesn’t realize that about herself (Ewwwww!!!!). She’s never looked in a mirror even though it’s her job to clean a house with 117 rooms. How does she clean the mirrors (which do exist in this world) without looking into one? So unrealistic. The highly anticipated third novel in the This Woven Kingdom series, full of explosive magic, searing romance, and heartbreaking betrayal, from the award-winning and bestselling author of the Shatter Me series. Perfect for fans of Leigh Bardugo, Sabaa Tahir, and Tomi Adeyemi. Their budding relationship, however, is overshadowed by prophecies foretelling the demise of Kamran’s king. They have no idea that Alizeh is the key to uprooting not only Kamran’s kingdom, but the entire world. This has the exact same vibe as letting everyone in House of Gucci speak English… but with an Italian accent because they are Italian, yk? It’s got to be authentic! Same as you can’t let those characters speak either Italian or English without any kind of ridiculous accents, the author couldn’t write about a fantasy world without using over-the-top language that, if read out loud to a 17th-century landlord, would scare the shit out of him. God bless thee, good Sir. Clashing empires, forbidden romance, and a long-forgotten queen destined to save her people—bestselling author Tahereh Mafi’s first in an epic, romantic trilogy inspired by Persian mythology.

Then, there is Iblees who pop up in and out of Alizeh's life. Always tell her of that riddle I didn't understand! and made me skeptical in everyone in this dangerous empire! *ugh*This Woven Kingdom by Tahereh Mafi is the story of Alizeh, a servant girl with a secret. It’s the story of Kamran, the crown prince with prophecies hanging over his head. It’s the story of Jinn, death, love, loss and stepping into who you were born to be. To all the world, Alizeh is a disposable servant, not the long-lost heir to an ancient Jinn kingdom forced to hide in plain sight. PDF / EPUB File Name: This_Woven_Kingdom_-_Tahereh_Mafi.pdf, This_Woven_Kingdom_-_Tahereh_Mafi.epub In conclusion: I enjoyed Alizeh's pov and character more than Kamran's. Despite the romance being a bit disappointing, the plot and world building kept my interests in this first book. I’m planning on reading the second book mainly because I’m very invested in Alizeh, and I’m hoping the romance will develop more/be a bit more exciting. After that cliffhanger, I have a theory about the direction the romance might take in book 2 and I really hope it comes true. Kamran is a sweetheart. I like him. At the end of the book, I felt so sorry for him. I love that he always cared for Alizeh.

Kamran has a lot of potential (dark, broody prince, hell yeah), but he didn’t have enough depth to entirely convince me either. He felt a bit like a toned down version of Nasir in We Hunt the Flame. As a small thing, he was a character that I sometimes struggled with, as he is relatively immature but with enough power that it can be dangerous. He does begin to grow and learn during the story, so I think he will continue to mature in future books. As Kamran tries to make sense of the girl behind the mask, the prophecy that the Queen of Jinn will end his grandfather’s life hangs over him. But as Kamran’s questioning depends, so do his feelings for Alizeh, his enemy and his kingdom’s enemy. Alizeh, in the meantime, continues to hide her Jinn side, the ice in her veins a constant reminder of who she is and the power that could be hers.Tahereh Mafi is a wonderful writer though, and the worlds and stories she creates are so well done. The Persian myth that was threaded into This Woven Kingdom was also beautiful, and it was really cool seeing that play out in the book. In this enthralling story, we follow Alizeh, a seemingly ordinary servant girl with a remarkable secret. Unbeknownst to everyone, she is the long-lost heir to an ancient Jinn kingdom, and she is forced to keep her true identity hidden in plain sight. I am filled with disappointment. Seriously. Absolutely filled to the brim with it. I had previously put this as a 3 star read... but the more I think about it, the more I think it deserves a 2 star. I know this book just got released at the time of me writing this review, so I'm actually going to put a lot of care into this review and state my case as to why I believe it deserves my terrible rating.
