About this deal

A lot of the factions feel like a bit of duds. I think Host of the Everchosen might be far and away the best option for people looking for a classic Warriors of Chaos army while Despoilers will remain for those favoring a more Horde heavy approach. Cabalist could be an interesting Dark Horse option, giving you a frankly irresponsible number of casters. Battalions

Before a warrior may attempt to prove themselves worthy of the Varanguard, they must be summoned by a sign of Chaos. This omen can take many forms – perhaps the likeness of the Everchosen in the flames of a burning keep as its defenders scream for death, Archaon’s silhouette formed from a spray of arterial blood upon a carrion-littered battlefield, or the Everchosen’s name howled in unison by the plague-choked throats of a hundred corpses. When a warrior sees such a sign, there can be no mistaking that they have been called into Archaon’s service. [2a] The Varanspire is under a massive realmgate to the Realm of Chaos in the sky and the center of the Eightpoints. It is protected by spiked walls manned by hordes of warriors, daemons, and monsters sworn to Archaon. The walls are divided into eight concentric circles, each taller than the last, with the first circle in the center, corresponding to each of the eight circles of the Varanguard. Each circle’s fortifications are controlled by the master of its respective Varanguard circle. [2] [3a] Consolidation of Rules – The original Slaves to Darkness tome was definitely unwieldy, with lots of modular rules that unnecessarily complicated list building. Then add Wrath of the Everchosen on top of that and it became a real mess! Well all that has been consolidated down into one easy to follow book. The Chaos Chosen Command kit lets you build an Exalted Champion , 2 Chaos Chosen , as well as a Chaos Chosen drummer and a Chaos Chosen standard bearer, which can’t be used in Warcry. These are finecast resin as well.I really like this book. I don’t think it’s broken, but it is very strong. We’ve seen a few aggressively technical books in the past few months, like Lumineth and Tzeentch. This book is a hammer. It’s blunt, it hits hard and it probably will break a few bones in the process. It’s got very strong brute force energy which is going to appeal to a lot of players who want something more straightforward.

Some Slaves to Darkness dedicate themselves to specific Chaos Gods such as Khorne or Nurgle, painting their marks on their armor and gaining favors from them when they fight well, while others worship Chaos itself in its Undivided form. As they gain favor, they Slaves to Darkness might sprout chaotic mutations, become stronger, rise in the ranks of their armies or even one day become a Daemon Prince, a true paragon of Chaos.Burning nations and tortured peoples are reflected in the cruel helms of the Reavers of Chaos, Fourth Circle of the Varanguard and merciless pillagers of the realms. [2b] Fifth Circle Throw Javelin (Double, Chaos Marauder Horseman with Marauder Javelin and Darkwood Shield): A chance to do up to 6 damage to an enemy fighter at range. Varanguard [280pts]: 2. Grasping Plate, 2. Inescapable Doom, 3x Ensorcelled Weapon, General, Tzeentch The other, Draw from Power is a bit more dangerous. You can roll 3D6 to cast but if you get 1 on 2 of those dice, the Wizard fails the spell and takes D6 mortals! Worth taking a chance if you really need a specific spell to go off. The odds of rolling 2 1s is about 7%, which means it’s more likely than rolling snake eyes on 2D6s, with far harsher punishment, but it can also get you a number high enough that the spell cannot be unbound no matter what. Slaves to Darkness had some overly complex subfactions going on, with lots of nested rules. It has now mercifully been reduced to 6, and they function like any other book. Take a subfaction, get a perk for your army.

From here I plan to build the army out to 6 Varanguard, a Gaunt Summoner on Disk, 40 Warriors, 5 Knights and a Warshrine. You can see each of the Knights individually below each with their own brutal looking weapon. I like that they've tied them into the more overly daemonic look and feel of Age of Sigmar but something has to be said for the dour and plain looking Chaos Knights of old which had their own style to them.Do you want to Pillage and Burn the land without remorse? Do you enjoy Chaos but having to choose a single god make you squeamish? Do you want to run one of the biggest and best god models in the game? Then come on down to Slaves to Darkness, the faction where mortals of every chaos god can get together and share their common love of burning down the holdings of Sigmar, Nagash and just about anyone that isn’t them. Sometimes their own stuff too if they’re getting antsy. Overall These are all great. While I’m less enamored with the Blasphemous Icon and Dread Banner they have their niches. All 4 god options are phenomenal and open up more customization for your list. Now it’s so much more straightforward. If a unit has the Mark of Chaos keyword (or one of the gods pre-chosen for them) they get a buff and if they’re a hero, a command ability (or a spell for Tzeentch). Simple, easy, and gives you ways to customize a unit to fulfill a role. It’s also worth noting that there are several abilities that interact with specific enhancements which can tip the scales a bit for a specific unit.
