About this deal

The storage temperature shows the range from a minimum to a maximum temperature, within which storing of the display is considered to be safe. The maximum number of colors, which the display is able to reproduce, depends on the type of the panel in use and color enhancing technologies like FRC. The operating temperature shows the safe temperature range (from minimum to maximum), within which the display will function flawlessly. Outside this range it might operate improperly and/or fail entirely. Samsung’s quantum dot technology impressed me in the Samsung C24FG70, and theC34J79 is no different. Colour accuracy is impressive. An average Delta E of 1.5 means this screen is ideal for colour critical work such as professional-level photo editing, and gamut coverage is just as good, with sRGB coverage hitting an impressive 98.3% sRGB, Adobe RGB coverage at 74.8% and DCI P3 gamut coverage is 80.5%.

This monitor uses a 5-way toggle style button to control everything from brightness, color profiles, switching inputs and more. It’s a bit clumsy to use, but you can also set up custom color profiles on your Mac in System Preferences. There was an very slight difference when cycling through the ‘Response Time’ options in the onscreen menu, with ‘Standard’ offering a slightly slower response than ‘Faster’ and ‘Fastest’, but there was no perceived overshoot ghosting in any modes, so I was able to use the monitor set to ‘Fastest’ without having to worry about ruining the visuals. I should also point out that, unlike the Samsung C24FG70, there’s no brightness cap in Faster and Fastest modes; the C34J79’s brightness remained untouched at 317cd/m2. Despite not having a 144Hz refresh rate, the C34J79’s native 1440p resolution at 100Hz provides a great gaming experience. There are four preset Samsung Magic Brightness settings to choose from: Standard, Cinema, Dynamic Contrast, and High-Brightness, as well as an option to create a custom setting. that violates any law, statute, ordinance or regulation (including, but not limited to, those governing export control, consumer protection, unfair competition, anti-discrimination or false advertising); The external 24-volt power supply supplies 85 watts to the various ports, and indeed, the 2017 MacBook Pro used for some of the testing said it was charging while plugged in. My phone charged on the USB port and there were also no issues with any of the input or storage peripherals I attached. And because the C34J79 uses VA panel technology, its contrast ratio is much higher than your average IPS display. Indeed, in my testing I measured it at 2,250:1 contrast ratio, which translates to incredibly lifelike imagery. The 34in curved monitor doesn’t disappoint when it comes to its brightness levels either, reaching an impressive 317cd/m2; that’s fine for use indoors, even in bright, sunlit rooms.

The peak brightness measured right around 300 nits. That’s a full 200 less than with many of Apple’s displays, though the contrast is adequate for most purposes. But between the LCD leakage and low peak brightness, you don’t get a particularly dramatic picture. Watching video and movies will be a ho-hum experience if you measure things purely by the display’s contribution. Bottom line The percentage of the approximate area, taken by the active part of the screen, to the total front area. Information about whether the stand can be dismounted. Usually, this is required for wall mounting. I found the integrated stereo speakers to sound decent. They’re definitely an improvement over what you’ll find in any of Apple’s notebooks, but most users will want to opt for dedicated speakers for better results.

Ports

Information about the average amount of time, in which the pixels change from one color to another. The upstream Thunderbolt 3 port for connecting your MacBook offers up to 85W charging, which is just 2W shy of the max 87W that Apple says its 15-inch MacBook Pro will accept. In real world use I don’t think anyone would notice the difference even when running a Mac hard. The second Thunderbolt 3 port is a downstream connection and can output 15W, nice for a fast iPhone or iPad charge in addition to being handy for TB3 peripherals. Size class of the display as declared by the manufacturer. Often this is the rounded value of the actual size of the diagonal in inches. Samsung says that the 1500R curvature mimics the human eye and cites research from the Seoul National University Hospital that its curved displays reduce eyestrain compared to flat monitors. Approximate width of the display. If the manufacturer does not provide such information, the width is calculated from the diagonal and the aspect ratio.

use of the content you supply does not violate these Terms of Use and will not cause injury to any person or entity. The 21:9 ratio resolution is also known as Ultra Wide Quad High Definition (UWQHD), or the wide brother of the 2560 by 1440 QHD that was at the top of the HD food chain for several years before 4K UHD (3840 by 2160), 4K (4098 by 2160), and Apple’s 16:9 4K (4098 by 2304) showed up. Now you also have Apple’s 5K display on the iMac (16:9, 5120 by 2880) and upcoming 6K Pro Display XDR (16:9, 6016 by 3384—if you have a 5K iMac or plan to get the Pro Display XDR, you’re not really in the market for a CJ791. If you’re using a MacBook or Mac mini, then it’s a worthy option. The stand is beautifully engineered and provides both height and tilt adjustments, plus if you want to wall mount it you can use the VESA mounting kit included in the box. You might want to do that, as well, since in addition to its wide, 21:9 aspect ratio it’s a jolly big screen, measuring a substantial 34in across the diagonal; Samsung also introduces a dramatic 1500R curvature here, the idea being to provide a more immersive viewing experience than a flat monitor.

Specs

The CJ791 uses a matte, anti-glare screen coating that is less impressive at first glance that the glassy gloss of Apple’s displays, but it can be a real eye-saver in the long run. At the very least, it means you don’t have to be as careful as you do with Apple’s glossy displays about how you orient the CJ791 in glare-prone environments. Samsung There’s also Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture modes, which could be useful for some use cases. Here’s how the two features work: Dimensions, weight and color Information about the dimensions and the weight of the specific model with and without stand as well as the colors, in which it is offered to the market. Width The pixel pitch shows the distance from the centers of two neighboring pixels. In displays, which have a native resolution (the TFT ones, for example), the pixel pitch depends on the resolution and the size of the screen.
