About this deal

In productivity, the AOC CQ32G2S excels. Its curve is a non-factor for word processing or spreadsheets and there is no visible image distortion. The stand and screen height allow one to set the panel vertically so the eyepoint is centered. This ensures that the entire image is in focus from edge to edge. With my calibration in place, color accuracy was well suited for photo editing and graphics work. The high contrast made Word documents easy to read at the smallest text sizes. And that's it! Don't worry too much about the little message that says 'Selected Display is not validated as G-Sync Compatible'. That's just alerting you that the monitor isn't one of Nvidia's official G-Sync Compatible monitors, so your G-Sync experience may not be the absolute bestest best available. Often even a higher peak luminance can be achieved under certain conditions. For example, when a smaller area/APL of the display is used for showing a bright object, when a bright object is displayed for a short time, etc. The dynamic contrast shows the ratio between the brightest and the darkest color, which the display can reproduce over time, for example, in the course of playing a video.

Away from gaming, the monitor is a very capable day-to-day computing screen as well – we connected it up to both Windows and Mac computers without any issue, and having access to so much extra screen real estate can make a real difference whether you're working on spreadsheets or binge watching a few episodes of your favourite show. Curved monitors are something of an acquired taste but the AOC CQ32G2SE is easy to get used to. In the Luminance menu, you’ll find brightness and contrast along with three gamma presets and the three HDR emulation modes. They don’t support HDR10 signals, but rather, they approximate the look of HDR through gamma manipulation. They also add varying levels of edge enhancement which ultimately reduces perceived resolution. I recommend avoiding them. The CQ32G2S has plenty of native contrast already. The AOC CQ32G2SE is a 32”, 1440p, 165 Hz monitor, with FreeSync Premium certification. Brightness and colour Information about the number of pixels on the horizontal and vertical side of the screen. A higher resolution allows the display of a more detailed and of higher quality image. First of all, you'll need to make sure FreeSync is enabled on your monitor. Not all FreeSync monitors have FreeSync enabled by default, so you'll probably have to root around in your monitor's menu settings a bit (the location will vary by monitor manufacturer) to make sure it's switched on.

The storage altitude shows the maximum possible altitude for secure storing of the display. Storing it above this limit may result in damaging the display. This is a VA panel, a type of tech that traditionally offers slightly slower response times, and it's worth pointing out that the 1ms response time quoted in the monitor's specs is an MPRT or Moving Picture Response Time figure – that's not quite as impressive as using the traditional GTG or grey-to-grey method of measuring response time. When the action on screen is moving fast, the monitor can't always keep up, but we wouldn't say it seriously degrades the viewing experience (and we weren't able to test it with AMD FreeSync). The maximum number of colors, which the display is able to reproduce, depends on the type of the panel in use and color enhancing technologies like FRC. Information about the brightness of the screen. It is measured in candela per square metre (cd/m²).Using AOC’s Picture Boost setting can significantly improve the overall image quality. Colour saturation and brightness is enhanced without crushing the brighter colours, whites are crisper and more natural, but it also keeps the darker colours intact. This also helps improve the contrast and makes for a much more appealing image. Combining Picture Boost with Game Colour dramatically improves the overall picture quality. There’s nothing groundbreaking on offer here, but it’s a solid lineup of connectivity options. Two HDMI 2.0 inputs are joined by a single DisplayPort 1.2 input for connecting multiple consoles, PCs or laptops. A 3.5mm audio line-out is also included for connecting to speakers or headphones, which is useful if you have several devices connected to the display. There is no USB passthrough, but this is to be expected in entry-level monitors. The storage humidity shows the lower and upper humidity limit, which ensures safe storage of the display. Storing it outside these limits might damage the display.
