About this deal

The prime agricultural products currently produced in Seychelles include sweet potatoes, vanilla, coconuts and cinnamon. These products provide much of the economic support of the locals. Frozen and canned fish, copra, cinnamon and vanilla are the main export commodities. The French had occupied the Isle de France (now Mauritius) since 1715. This colony was growing in importance, and in 1735 an energetic administrator, Bertrand-François Mahé de La Bourdonnais (1699–1753) was appointed. His brief was to protect the French sea route to India. La Bourdonnais, himself a sailor, turned his attention to making a speedier passage from Mauritius to India. To this end, in 1742, he sent an expedition under the command of Lazare Picault to accurately chart the islands northeast of Madagascar. Red is a powerful color, often associated with passion and accord. For Seychelles, it signifies the agreement and love of the people. Historically, it can also be linked to the struggles for independence and the sacrifices made by the Seychellois to carve out their nation. White

On 5 June 1977, an almost bloodless coup d'état saw Mancham deposed while abroad and France-Albert René became president. The Seychelles became a one-party state from 1979 to 1991, with the SPUP becoming the Seychelles People's Progressive Front (SPPF). René was the only presidential candidate for elections in 1979, in 1984, and in 1989, which he won with over 90% of the vote. [4] A post stamp commemorating the anniversary of the 1977 coup, called "Liberation Day" White stands as a beacon of peace, purity, and harmony. In the cultural beliefs of Seychelles, white symbolizes justice, equity, and the aspiration for a harmonious coexistence among its diverse populace. Green The main daily newspaper is the Seychelles Nation, dedicated to local government views and current topics. Other political parties operate papers such as Regar. Foreign newspapers and magazines are readily available at most bookshops and newsagents. The papers are published mostly in Seychellois Creole, French and English.Use of the rupee in Seychelles started during its colonial period. The country’s colonial Governor Charles O’Brien enacted a Paper Currency Ordinance in 1914, which sought to establish mechanisms for issuing of currency in the country. Emergency issues of bills in values of 10, 5 and 1 rupee, as well as 50 cents, were produced by the government that year. In 1918, the government started producing standard issues of notes. The first standard issue bills were in denominations of 1 rupee and 50 cents. In 1928, bill with values of 50, 10 and 5 rupees were issued. In 1951, coins with a value of 50 cents and 1 rupee replaced bills of the same value and 1968 saw the introduction of notes worth 100 and 20 rupees. 1n 1972, coins with a value of 5 rupee replaced bills of the same value. The constitutional commission was made up of 22 elected members, 14 from the SPPF and 8 from the DP. It commenced work on 27 August 1992, with both President René and Mancham calling for national reconciliation and consensus on a new democratic constitution. A consensus text was agreed upon on 7 May 1993, and a referendum to approve it was called for 15–18 June. The draft was approved with 73.9% of the electorate in favor of it and 24.1% against. [11] In February 1992, Conrad Greslé, a local accountant, landowner and advocate of multi-party democracy in Seychelles was arrested and charged with treason for allegedly planning to overthrow President René's régime with the apparent aid of foreign mercenaries and with supposed CIA involvement. Greslé died in Seychelles in July 1993 and is survived by his wife Sylvia, son Neville and daughters Natasha and Yvette Greslé. [9]

Since then the government has moved to reduce the dependence on tourism by promoting the development of farming, fishing, small-scale manufacturing and most recently the offshore financial sector, through the establishment of the Financial Services Authority and the enactment of several pieces of legislation (such as the International Corporate Service Providers Act, the International Business Companies Act, the Securities Act, the Mutual Funds and Hedge Fund Act, amongst others). In March 2015, Seychelles allocated Assumption Island to be developed by India. [80] Since the use of spearguns and dynamite for fishing was banned through efforts of local conservationists in the 1960s, the wildlife is unafraid of snorkelers and divers. Coral bleaching in 1998 has damaged most reefs, but some reefs show healthy recovery (such as Silhouette Island). In 1769, the navigators Rochon and Grenier proved that a faster route to India could safely be taken via the Seychelles, and thus the importance of the islands' strategic position was realised. Meanwhile, Poivre had finally obtained seedlings of nutmeg and clove, and 10,000 nutmeg seeds. His attempts to propagate them on Mauritius and Bourbon (later named Réunion) met with little success, and he thought again of Seychelles. It was considered fortuitous when Brayer du Barré (unknown-1777) arrived on Mauritius with royal permission to run a settlement on St Anne at his own expense. The ensign of Seychelles comprises with five bands slanting from left to right. Those bands are tinged with blue, yellow, red, white and green. It has the same durability, strength and versatility of its knitted polyester equivalent but with a much lower environmental impact. We are the first UK supplier to offer an eco-friendly option rather than the standard polyester flags made from virgin plastic. Anti-fray Guébourg, Jean-Louis (2004). Les Seychelles (in French). While the orientation and structure are different, with Comoros also featuring a crescent and four stars on the third band, the shared hues might evoke a visual connection with Seychelles’ flag. The colors in Comoros’ flag represent the country’s four main islands, each with its distinct identity and history. Conclusion

Above the shield, the crest is adorned with a White Tailed Tropic Bird (Phaethon lepturus lepturus) in flight, set over wavy blue and argent waters, encapsulated by a wreath combining azure, or gules, and vert. In 2014, Seychelles had the highest incarceration rate in the world of 799 prisoners per 100,000 population, exceeding the United States' rate by 15%. [47] However, the country's actual population was less than 100,000; as of September 2014, Seychelles had 735 actual prisoners, 6% of whom were female, incarcerated in three prisons. [48] We’d recommend opting for a 2 yard flag if your flagpole is 6 metres tall or a 2.5 yard flag if it is 8 metres or taller. Flags are finished with a rope and toggle so are ready to fly as soon as you receive them. Fabric choice Until the mid-19th century, little formal education was available in Seychelles. The Catholic and Anglican churches opened mission schools in 1851. The Catholic mission later operated boys' and girls' secondary schools with religious brothers and nuns from abroad even after the government became responsible for them in 1944. [97]Widening stripes of blue yellow red white and green radiating from a point from the corner of the bottom hoist. The SPPF instituted a number of reforms, including universal access to education and healthcare, as well as environmental reforms. During this period, the Seychelles developed rapidly, to the point that it became the most developed country in Africa on the Human Development Index. The situation for Seychellois Creole people, who constitute the majority of the nation's population, also improved significantly due to domestic policies implemented by President René aimed at racial equity. However, the white minority (mainly Franco-Seychellois) still occupied most important posts (ministerial and parliamentary) in the state administration and dominated the ranks of the party leadership. [8] In January 2013, Seychelles declared a state of emergency when the tropical cyclone Felleng caused torrential rain, and flooding and landslides destroyed hundreds of houses. [27] [28] At http://www.francophonie.org/actualit, the colour specifications for the Seychelles flag are given as: An anti-fray netting can be added to your knitted polyester or handsewn flag to help prolong the life of your flag. It provides extra protection to the hem to prevent fraying. A handsewn flag is an investment so we would recommend adding anti-fray.
