Impressive Connectivity: The MinisForum HX99G Ryzen small form factor computer features various ports, including HDMI and USB4, offering high-resolution video output and compatibility with the latest display technologies. Additionally, its Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 support ensure fast and stable wireless connectivity. The PC arrives without a carrying case (like we had on other Minisforum products). The bundle includes the necessary power cable, one HDMI 2.1 cable, optional base support and a frame in case you want to use this system vertically. There is however no way to mount this system with through VESA mount, so it is either standing or laying on the desk. Minisforum were kind to borrow a computer based on AMD CPU and GPU architecture. What makes this product special is the fact that it does not rely on a low-power integrated GPU, but it is equipped with a discrete GPU powerful enough to enable some high-quality gaming, but more on that later.
The RX 6600M is a Navi 23 chip (RDNA 2 architecture) featuring 1,792 cores, 28 compute units and 8GB of fast GDDR6 memory for its computations and display. Even if this had the same GPU power as the Radeon 680M, it would advantage the system by using its own independent memory, not impacting main memory bandwidth, allowing for much better parallelism.Time to wrap up the MinisForum HX99G review with my thoughts. Straight off the bat I have to say this is a very impressive gaming mini PC! While it is a little larger than your usual mini PC, it’s nowhere near the size of the larger NUCX models which are its main competitors. A gaming mini PC should have a small form factor and the MinisForum HX99G fits into this category just fine. Overall, the mini-PC strikes a balance between upgradability, performance, and noise levels, making it an appealing option for users who value customization and gaming capabilities. Compact and Portable Design: With its compact dimensions and lightweight construction, the MinisForum HX99G is highly portable, allowing you to easily set up your workstation anywhere. Its sleek design blends seamlessly into any environment without sacrificing performance. At 4K we can see the HX99G mini PC for gaming in third place with the NUCXi5 and i7 taking the lead. The elaborate carbon fibre adorned enclosure can either lay flat on two rubber strips on the underside or be placed vertically on an included wedge-shaped foot. Sadly, this machine is too big to be VESA mounted.
The only downside in this context to the RX 6600M is that its power demands are much greater than the rest of the system, and Minisforum supplies a very large PSU rated for a maximum output of 262.2W. But the upgrade option we genuinely liked was a completely unoccupied M.2 2280 slot, allowing an easy means to clone the existing 512GB storage to another M.2 device or add additional internal storage.
