About this deal

I’ve bought 5 bottles of this rum. Admittedly I bought all I could get my hands on when it was very well discounted (I still pop in any Aldi I pass just in case they have more) but I believe this rum and the 12 year old are very competitively priced for what you are actually getting. In the mythology of the Muisca, Mnya the Gold or golden color, represents the energy contained in the trinity of Chiminigagua, which constitutes the creative power of everything that exists. [3] Chiminigagua is related to Bachué, Cuza, Chibchacum, Bochica, and Nencatacoa. Beatriz Pastor; Sergio Callau (2011). Lope de Aguirre y la rebelión de los marañones. Bájné El Dorado– zlatá země, kterou hledali mnozí dobrodruzi v 16. až 17. století. Nikdy ji však nenašli, tedy jen v tekuté formě.

The Muisca people occupied the highlands of Cundinamarca and Boyacá departments of Colombia in two migrations from outlying lowland areas, one starting c. 1270 BC, and a second between 800 BC and 500 BC. At those times, other more ancient civilizations also flourished in the highlands. The Muisca Confederation was as advanced as [ clarify] the Aztec, Maya and Inca civilizations. [2]

While the existence of a sacred lake in the Eastern Ranges of the Andes, associated with Indian rituals involving gold, was known to the Spaniards possibly as early as 1531, its location was only discovered in 1537 by conquistador Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada while on an expedition to the highlands of the Eastern Ranges of the Andes in search of gold. He went about all covered with powdered gold, as casually as if it were powdered salt. For it seemed to him that to wear any other finery was less beautiful, and that to put on ornaments or arms made of gold worked by hammering, stamping, or by other means, was a vulgar and common thing. [ citation needed] I applaud them for heading into the right direction: both new rums are fantastic value, and miles better than their ancestors. The 12 year old, for me, is a perfect starter rum that I will forgive its low adulteration. The 15 year old is a new staple for readily available and low-priced Guyanese rum. I personally would wish for some more ABV, but ithe 15 year old has literally no competition at the moment.a b From Robert Harcourt (explorer): Goodwin, Gordon (1890). "Harcourt, Robert". In Stephen, Leslie; Lee, Sidney (eds.). Dictionary of National Biography. Vol.24. London: Smith, Elder & Co. DDL (Demerara Distillers Limited) produce a fantastic range of Demerara rums which I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys their rum sweet and fruity. This offering however offers something slightly different being a white mixing rum. The ceremony took place on the appointment of a new ruler. Before taking office, he spent some time secluded in a cave, without women, forbidden to eat salt, or to go out during daylight. The first journey he had to make was to go to the great lagoon of Guatavita, to make offerings and sacrifices to the demon which they worshipped as their god and lord. During the ceremony which took place at the lagoon, they made a raft of rushes, embellishing and decorating it with the most attractive things they had. They put on it four lighted braziers in which they burned much moque, which is the incense of these natives, and also resin and many other perfumes. The lagoon was large and deep, so that a ship with high sides could sail on it, all loaded with an infinity of men and women dressed in fine plumes, golden plaques and crowns. ... As soon as those on the raft began to burn incense, they also lit braziers on the shore, so that the smoke hid the light of day. Ann Marie: Nose: Light brown sugar with notes of maple syrup and freshly ground spices. Taste: Vanilla extract with molasses and slight cinnamon spice. Flavors linger on your palate for quite some time gradually getting deeper into an oak barrel/port cask sensation. Easy to sip on its own or can easily blend well with other rums to add some spicy/oak flavors. Palate: There is a big first wave of the spices and toffee, accompanied by a slight alcoholic sharpness. This is not as complex as the nose suggested, but it is really pleasant. In the finish, there is some astringent wood, but not as bitter as the first one. It fades into lingering vanilla pudding with a slight warmth. The palate/rum finishes slightly flat, which is probably due to some adulteration.

A Demerara rum is probably a rum that someone with a more sweet tooth will take to. I have seen Ron Zacapa noted for being very sweet. I think this rum is sweeter. However, nothing about this rum seems artificial. You don’t get that caramel or spiced taste sum rums do carry. It never becomes cloying. Prior to the time of the Spanish conquest of the Muisca and discovery of Lake Guatavita, a handful of expeditions had set out to explore the lowlands to the east of the Andes in search of gold, cinnamon, precious stones, and anything else of value. During the Klein-Venedig period in Venezuela (1528–1546), agents of the German Welser banking family (which had received a concession from Charles I of Spain) launched repeated expeditions into the interior of the country in search of gold, starting with Ambrosius Ehinger's first expedition in July 1529.
