About this deal

ROW 3 (= right side): Knit until there are 6-7-7 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, turn the piece. Alternative cheap option: A strong garden cane or similar. Make sure it’s deep into the ground. The other option is to tie the pole directly to the poles of your tent or gazebo. Make sure it’s not too tight that the pole will be damaged. Use bungees with some padding around the pole to limit damage. Flag bungees or pole sleeve

There are many different designs on the market. You can choose something special for you and your family, depending on your budget. Essential Kit ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl until there are 7-8-8 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to purl, purl 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the purled stitch, turn the piece. Shedding also depends on what is worn under or over the garment, and whether this pulls at the yarn fibres. It’s therefore not possible to guarantee that there will be no shedding This is a great way to get involve the children in the festival experience. Get them to choose one, or even better, make your own! All you need is an old sheet and some fabric paint. When the garment is finished (before you wash it) shake it vigorously so the looser hairs come off. NOTE: do NOT use a lint roller, brush or any method that pulls at the yarn.Wellington boots are a very necessary part of living in the UK at some point during the year. If you wear regular shoes at a festival, you can become quite miserable when it rains. It’s bad for the environment because your shoes leak and end up getting binned before their time, and it’s bad for your feet (who wants trench foot in this day and age?). As well as choosing your decoration, you need to get it in the air! For this you need a flag pole, a ground stake and some bungees or cord. Pole Knitting tension is what determines the final measurements of your work, and is usually measured per 10 x 10 cm. It is provided like so: number of stitches in width x number of rows in height - eg: 19 stitches x 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm. Alternative cheap option: Any bungee or cord will do! However it’s best not to use cable ties or anything too abrasive as they will damage your flag pole. What do I put on my pole? All yarns will have excess fibres (from production) that might come off as lint or shedding. Brushed yarns (ie hairier yarns) have more of these loose, excess fibres, causing more shedding.

ROW 4 (= wrong side): Purl until there are 6-7-7 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to purl, purl 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the purled stitch, turn the piece. Spinners are particularly eye catching, and especially fun for young children. Be aware that in high winds they may make a noise (some are actually designed to do this!) Continue to decrease like this, working until there is 1 stitch less each time before slipping a stitch and until there are 14-14-16 stitches left on the needle.

ROW 1 (= right side): Knit until there are 7-8-8 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, turn the piece. The knitting tension also determines which yarns can replace each other. As long as you achieve the same knitting tension you can replace one yarn with another. Needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on 10 cm = 4”, change to a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm = 4”, change to a smaller needle size. Alternative cheap option: An old tent pole is a very good option, as they are strong and flexible enough. Always make sure whatever you use is flexible so it will sway in the wind rather than break. Don’t forget when making your pole to attach something to the top to stop the flag sliding off! Ground stake
