About this deal

Pohlemann T, Bosch U, Gänsslen A, Tscherne H. The Hannover experience in management of pelvic fractures. Clin Orthop Relat Res. 1994;305:69–80. Cone point set screws have a distinctively sharper point than all other point types. This feature allows the screw to penetrate a completely flat target surface. Whilst they do provide the strongest holding grip, they are typically more likely to leave marks on the surface. CONE POINT SCREW A complete instruments set are available for Headless Compression Screws. Instruments can be modified according to the customer’s requirement with minimum quantity required. All these instruments can be used several times. Bone screws are the most commonly used orthopedic implants. There are many different types and sizes of screws for different types of bones. Most bone screws are made out of stainless steel or titanium alloys. The outer diameter, root diameter, and thread pitch and angle are important in determining screw mechanics.

cup point grub screws, which offer much the same function as cone point varieties but can be driven still further to provide even more torque and gripping force

If the fracture is unstable it may be helpful to place a second parallel guide wire using the parallel wire guides.

Headless screws are not without their perks, however. Reduction of soft tissue irritation and intra-articular fixation are main benefits. In my experience, use of the fully threaded-type headless screws are ideal for hammertoe fusions. I prefer the fully threaded screw in hammertoe surgery, due to the ability to allow the patient to get their foot wet after incision healing compared to six weeks with K-wires. Also, the fully threaded screw does not have a runout like a Herbert-type screw that often has its runout near a joint, which can pose a problem since the “runout is the weakest point of a partially threaded screw.” 1The entry point in the proximal pole is at the tip of the scaphoid immediately adjacent to the scapholunate ligament. This can be located either using an arthroscopy or mini open dorsal approach between the third and fourth extensor compartments. Whichever approach is employed, it is essential to ensure that the guide wire does not transfix an extensor tendon.
