Make fun of them all you want — clearly we’re keen to help. But know this: if it weren’t for fanatic Disney heads eager to buy anything the company throws at them, we wouldn’t have Doritos.

Ignacio “Nacho” Figueras founded the iconic hot sauce company, Tapatio, in 1971. He was inspired by the flavors of his hometown in Jalisco, Mexico, and sought to create a condiment that would bring those authentic Mexican flavors to homes around the world. With its signature red label and bright green cap, Tapatio has become one of the most recognizable brands in Latin America and beyond. Does Tapatío Have Red 40 First to market does not mean “invented,” but okay Disney, we’ll let you have this one. What don’t you own at this point?

Tapatio hot sauce is rated at around 2500-5000 on the Scoville scale, making it a mild to moderate heat level. This places it in the same range as Tabasco sauce, which falls between 2,500 and 5,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). It’s hotter than Frank’s RedHot Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce (450–2,700 SHU), but not nearly as spicy as sriracha or sambal oelek (both around 10,000 SHU). The list is long here for what foods work with Tapatio Hot Sauce. It’s very versatile. This will turn any egg dish into an absolute decadent breakfast. There’s something about eggs and Tapatio that just tastes perfect.

In conclusion, Tapatio hot sauce is a delicious condiment that adds flavor to almost any dish. It contains red chili peppers and other spices including garlic, salt, and vinegar. The hot sauce has a mild heat level which makes it appealing to many people who enjoy the taste without being overwhelmed by too much spice. This classic Mexican hot sauce recipe is incredibly easy to make and can be tailored to your spiciness preference. All you need are a few simple ingredients, including dried chiles, garlic, onion, oil, vinegar and salt. The combination of these ingredients creates a flavorful and spicy condiment that is perfect for adding heat to tacos or burritos. I’ve always wondered what 3D Doritos were, ever since they first hit the scene. It turns out this is Doritos’ version of Bugles. They’re bite-sized, light and crispy but there is no way anyone was asking for these. The flavor here features the slightest hint of heat over Doritos’ famed Nacho Cheese flavor. They’re not quite as intense in flavor as a traditional Dorito and aren’t even really worth indulging your curiosity for.

What we do know is that water leads the ingredient list and the sauce is thin, so the overall spiciness is very tempered here. Tapatio sits at roughly 3,000 Scoville heat units which puts it slightly hotter than the original red Tabasco Sauce (2,500 SHU). Compared to fresh peppers, Tapatio is as hot as a milder jalapeño pepper (2,500 to 8,000 SHU). Water leads things off — and that’s seen in the consistency. This is the thin kind of red sauce that gives you a nice kiss of red pepper flavor without it punching you out. On the sodium level: It isn’t great here, coming in at 90mg per teaspoon. Those who are watching their salt intake will need to take it easy with this one. As for me, that’s probably what makes it one of my favorites. I don’t reach for the salt when I’m using Tapatio. Heat Balance Tapatío is a hot sauce that is popular in the United States. While some of the ingredients are a closely guarded secret, it has been confirmed that Red 40 (also known as Allura Red AC) is not used in Tapatío’s recipe. Therefore, you can rest assured that if you enjoy Tapatío Hot Sauce there will be no artificial coloring added to your food. Tapatio Ingredients If you’re feeling adventurous, try adding Tapatio sauce to scrambled eggs or even grilled fish! Tapatio Vs Tabasco

This is Doritos’ response to Takis. Before I tried this I struggled to understand why we needed this flavor. You’d think we already had this one covered with Flamin’ Hot Limon but the form factor here makes all the difference. All of the flavors from the lime to the spice are more subtle here and because of the folds, you get more of that plain tortilla chip flavor. If you love the Nacho Cheese Dorito but think it’s a bit tame, Spicy Nacho might be just what you’re looking for. It tastes, predictably, just like Doritos Nacho Cheese but with a little bit of heat. Not so much that it’s going to make you salivate and need a glass of water to wash it down, but spicy enough that it keeps that nostalgic Nacho Cheese flavor feeling a little surprising and different. Van Holten’s and Tapatío were brought together through Brand Central LLC, Tapatío’s licensing agency. Tapatio is a brand of hot sauce, made with red jalapeño peppers. It contains chiles de árbol (small, red Mexican chili peppers), garlic, and salt as the main ingredients. In addition to these ingredients, it also includes vinegar, xanthan gum, and spices such as oregano. Generally speaking, Tapatio is considered to be the spicier sauce with a Scoville rating of about 5500-7000 compared to Cholula’s 2000-5000.It’s not Doritos version of Kettle Brand’s Korean BBQ Chip like you’d hope, it’s more like a BBQ chip with fewer spices. 5. Doritos Flamas Dane Rivera Tapatio has no added sugar or preservatives so it’s relatively healthy for you. It can be used on almost any type of food from tacos to eggs to nachos and beyond! Tapatio Recipe

However, it really depends on each individual’s personal taste preference as some people may find one sauce more spicy than the other. If you’re looking for extra heat then definitely grab a bottle of Tapatio! Conclusion

Table of Contents

Additionally, Tapatio has slightly more complex flavors due to added spices while Tabasco has only three ingredients – pepper mash, vinegar, and salt. Tapatio lists “red peppers” on that ingredient list, but there’s little more known on what type. It could be cayenne peppers, tabasco peppers, or something else entirely.
