I knew that my (not so cheap) birthday gift was a hit when we looked at each and smiled. I thought: “How did they do that?” This gin should be savored straight up. Just chill it and contemplate the amazing complexity. I speak as one who drinks gin as a martini. Plymouth is always in the cabinet. Then I pop around trying something new. I like everything from a Boodles to an Aviation or Tanquery 10. The St. Georges are wonderful. Glendalough is special.

Naturally, a spattering of photos of Bottas driving his Alfa Romeo F1 car pop up around each grand prix, but as his bio suggests, there's a lot more to the 10-time grand prix winner than just motor racing.

Place the ice cubes in a Collins glass. Combine the coffee, honey syrup and gin in the glass and stir. Top up with tonic water and add more ice as needed. Recommended Garnish And good news for mullet fans everywhere, when asked if he plans to get it cut, Bottas added: "No plans. For now it's staying." Valtteri Bottas' mullet first appeared last December -- and he has no plans of getting rid of it any time soon. Dan Istitene - Formula 1/Formula 1 via Getty Images Gin Huge thanks to the legends at Sipsmith for my complementary bottle of their Sipspresso Coffee Gin & bag of Pact Coffee ‘Fruit & Nut Espresso Blend’ (which is also absolutely delicious!). When the coffee is ready, discard the hot water and add the gin, amaretto (if using), sugar and coffee. Stir to dissolve the sugar. To taste neat, and the spirit takes on a far bolder character and personality than I had anticipated. The flavour notes from the nosing are there and then some, elevated to a much grander scale. To my palate, the coffee actually overtakes the velvety smooth profile of the cocoa, brining with it complex aromatics that would bring a smile to even the hardiest of hipster bearded baristas! Calling all gin fans! (We know there are A LOT of you!) Sipsmith have reinvented the espresso martini, replacing the vodka with gin and they think it’s the best ever. Start by cooling a glass. Fill it with ice, leave the ice to melt, and strain out the water. Or, if you’re short on time, put a glass in the fridge for a few minutes. 2. Combine the Ingredients Ahead of this year's Australian Grand Prix, Bottas and Cromwell launched their new gin brand, Oath. This was a joint venture formed from a joint passion and has resulted in a product that pays tribute to both their origins. One of the best-known coffee liqueur brands in the world, Kahlua has been a staple of barrooms and mixologist tables in 1936. The rich spirit is made with 100 per cent Arabica coffee beans and rum, making it ideal for an Espresso Martini. Low in alcohol volume, the coffee liqueur is palatable, creamy and delightful.

Coffee roaster, gin distiller Meet the other Valtteri Bottas: Coffee roaster, gin distiller

Probably the best gin on the planet! Aroma and mouthfeel are marvelous. We don’t mix it, we afraid to lose any single note of it. We drink it as Martini just by itself, just shaken with ice. We don’t agree it’s bitter, as the review states. It’s silky smooth.Previous releases have seen the fruition of the ‘Lemon Drizzle’ and ‘Chocolate Orange’ gins, both of which proved so popular that they ended up becoming part of the core range! Perhaps most intriguing of all, was the launch of the Chilli & Lime Gin, which I had the great pleasure of reviewing in ‘the year that was’ 2020.
