About this deal

This book is labelled for ‘puppies’ – but it’s really not. This is a book that can help most people. There may be some application of principles learnt to alternative situations, but there is advice in there for everyone. Steve’s philosophy is largely based on his view that there are really only two reasons why your puppy won’t do what you want it to do:

Book Summary :My name's Steve Mann and I've been a professional dog trainer and behaviorist for more than 30 years. As founder of the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers, I've helped transform the lives of over 100,000 dogs and their families—and now I want to help you, too! Whether you're living with a brand-new puppy, an adult dog, or a rescue dog, my methods will give you everything you need to know. Using simple, proven, science-based and ethical techniques, I'll show you how to have the best relationship with your pup, as well as teaching you how to get: super-fast recalls, great loose lead walking, perfect manners, and much, MUCH more.We recommend that puppies come along to dog training and socialisation classes for their first year of their life to help them through fear periods and give them the basic grounding in good manners and behaviour that they need to become excellent doggy citizens. A great dog training book that imparts a lot of practical knowledge in a fun, wholesome and humorous way. I listened to it on Audible which brought the added benefit of the writer's excellent British accent, so I would recommend that option to fans of audiobooks. Typically when you search ‘best book about X’ there are reams and reams of listicles that corroborate each other; usually leaving you with one or two front runners in the particular subject area you’re interested in. When I searched ‘best book for new dog owners’ and ‘best dog training book’ I couldn’t find a definitive winner. After scouring the web for a while I came across Easy Peasy Puppy Squeezy which purported to be ‘The UK’s No.1 Dog Training Book’, but it wasn’t this marketing slogan that sold it for me, it was the more endearing, ‘Your simple step-by-step guide to raising and training a happy puppy’. A happy puppy. Isn’t that what we all really want from a dog?

In his book “Easy Peasy Puppy Squeezy” reknowned dog trainer Steve Mann describes building positive associations with the vet. He suggests that with the vet’s permission, you take pup just inside the door, feed lots of treats, give lots of praise and then leave. Repeat several times until puppy looks forward to the experience. Then you can gradually increase the duration and distractions within each “visit”. Eg stay a bit longer, encourage the pup to have cuddles with the receptionist and get used to having the vet nurse touch ears and examine teeth. On this highly anticipated and sought after course, which is a must for both owners and trainers. Steve will:-

Never put the puppy under pressure. Forcing them to meet the big dog, talk to Aunty Joan, sit on the kerb while lorries whizz past his nose (or whatever the stimulus may be) will make the dog even more reluctant next time the situation arises. and Jessica Pierce. Unleashing Your Dog: A Field Guide to Giving Your Canine Companion the Best Life Possible. Novato, California, New World Library, 2019. Absolutely Amazing ❤️ it' and as always came away from another IMDT course hosted By Liz at PDT learning lots' and realising i need to work with puppies 😁 ❤️Thank you so much Steve' and the Amazing Tania Folks 😁 ❤️ your class The book, however, does introduce it in an easy manner. The fact it’s short, written in easy to understand language and talks directly to you, the reader, makes you feel very involved and ditches the somewhat archaic formality of dog training books of the past. Steve Mann obviously knows his dogs and the training which goes along with owning a dog, I can't fault his knowledge, he explains everything in very lamen's terms so no matter whether this is your fifteenth dogs or your a first-time pup-parent you will find something of interest and gain new insight into your puppy's behaviour and how to get passed all their hurdles. I liked the tips on basic training and managing all those puppy tantrums and difficult behaviours, they didn't all work for me but we keep going and hoping one day (before my dog becomes an OAP) that he will get what I am trying to teach him. One can hope! This book claims to be a “simple step-by-step guide to raising and training a happy puppy or dog”. But is it so simple? Steve Mann, Founder of The Institute of Modern Dog Trainers - The IMDT, and Author of Best Selling dog training books 'Easy Peasy Puppy Squeezy', 'Easy Peasy Doggy Squeezy', 'Easy Peasy Doggy Diary', and top selling children's book 'Easy Peasy AWESOME PAWSOME!'The things we take for granted can be quite scary to a puppy or even to an older dog who has never come across them before. Don’t overwhelm them and let them get used to things in their own time. Employ some common sense though. If puppy is not keen on the washing machine, don’t put his crate right next to it. On the other hand, if you wait for the dog to go out before you switch it the washing on, the situation will never improve. Just make sure your dog can see and hear the monstrous machine from a distance and has something positive to pair with the sight and sound of it eg a yummy kong, filled with their favourite treats can be a fun thing to do whilst the washing machine monster is on!. Over time, the fear will subside – the dog will become habituated. Even if punishment works some of the time, is it worth it? If you end up with a dog that doesn’t trust you or a dog that doesn’t want to come near you? How can that ever be a good thing? I've been training puppy classes for several years but this course has absolutely revolutionised the exercises and techniques I'll be using from now on. If you're thinking about doing this course I've two words for you 'DO IT!" A regular on TV, Steve has starred in several shows including The Underdog Show and Who Let The Dogs Out? , as well as appearing on BBC Breakfast and Lorraine. He has also trained some high-profile pups, including those of Graham Norton, Lorraine Kelly and Theo Walcott.

The book covers all of the potential pinch-points of toilet training, chewing, play-biting, and jumping up at people. It also teaches the exercises of Sit, Recall, Loose Lead Walking, and digs into topics such as body language and correct socialisation. Steve Mann is founder of the IMDT and the Author of the #1 best selling puppy training book in the UK, ‘Easy Peasy Puppy Squeezy’ Socialisation is introducing your dog to different experiences so that he or she can meet dogs, people and different situations calmly and confidently. Good socialisation can shape your puppy for the rest of their lives, but done badly it can be hugely detrimental. Good socialisation is something we are very conscious of at Best Behaviour Dog Training and we incorporate it into everything we do. Any prospective dog owners, especially those who haven’t trained a dog before. Reading this before you bring your puppy home will ensure you don’t get into bad habits like using your new puppy’s name in a negative manner or focusing on punishments rather than positive reinforcement. A Hierarchy of Dog Needs: Abraham Maslow Meets the Mutts. ( Linda Michaels' dog training stresses gentle care, rewards, and choice.)A brilliant 3 days which gave me material and ideas for many more years of my puppy classes to come. A really eye-opening and exciting view of puppy training, home visits and classes. Thank you! Steve Mann has been a professional dog trainer and behaviourist for over 30 years. He has trained over 100,000 dogs and thousands of professional dog trainers. He is founder and chairman of the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers and presents seminars, courses and workshops for dog trainers and behaviourists worldwide. Not only was this book informative and at times emotive, it was also a fun read with numerous laugh-out-loud moments littered throughout. If you’re getting a puppy, read this book. It’s as simple as that.
