Opening the bar, I wasn’t hit with a strong smell of coffee – pretty disappointing from a supposedly coffee-flavoured protein bar. Created in partnership with Oreo, this bar combines real Oreo pieces with Grenade’s tried-and-tested protein bar base. I realise I just came on very strong, but this bar is unbelievable (Yes, I know it’s only a protein bar and I need to calm down, cheers)
Grenade Carb Killa White Chocolate Cookie Bar, 12 x 60g
The base has a light, milky cocoa flavour – something Grenade hasn’t done in a while. It’s not an intense chocolate, but it shouldn’t be. The chocolate is rich, but it strikes just the right balance so as to not detract from the real star – the salted caramel. The peanut flavour is perfectly savoury, similar to the White Chocolate Peanut bar, and provides a delightful contrast to the sweet strawberry layer. It’s us… the original. The flavour that Ben and Jerry made famous and in doing so launched a whole sub-genre of hybrid flavours to our tables. Vibe : Grenade's Protein Shakes are your queue jump to meeting protein benchmarks. Every sip is like an adrenaline rush for your nutritional goals, loading up your system with essential macronutrients. Above all, Grenade bottled protein shakes allow you to conveniently increase your protein intake for the day, no goal is too big. ARE PROTEIN SHAKES GOOD FOR WEIGHT LOSS? It’s a complete contrast to the likes of Chocolate Chip Salted Caramel or Dark Chocolate Raspberry, but it’s a bit of FUN. Fudged Up – 7/10 There’s the same nougat-y texture to the base as in the other bars. It’s smooth and chewy, with the crispies adding a satisfying crunch when you take a bite. The centre is soft, fudgey and slightly chewy, just like the previous two bars but this time with a nice chocolate flavour. The caramel layer adds a richness and a hint of salt which mixes well with the chocolate coating to create an overall flavour that reminds of, well, a fudge brownie!Bang on. The base is the same nougat-like centre as the rest of the bars but with a soft peanut flavour in this case. It’s certainly not a full-on peanut flavour, but it is enough to blend well with the chocolate and the peanut chunks add some extra flavour and crunch. By now you’re going to know about Grenade’s classic triple-layer bars, so I’ll leave that bit out. But I will say that the centre on this bar seems softer than usual, more similar to that of the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough I’ve reviewed before.

With each bite of a Carb Killa bar you take, it becomes increasingly hard to believe that it isn’t a standard chocolate bar. Carb Killa bars are perfect for anyone of on a low carb diet, or those looking to build lean muscle with a low carb, high protein treat. Why choose the Carb Killa protein bar? It’s a protein bar, but I can’t think of an actual chocolate bar that tastes as good as this. Chocolate Crunch – 4/10If you’ve missed Grenade’s chocolate offerings, or if you’re just on the hunt for something classic yet sophisticated, this is the bar for you. It’s fudgy and chocolate-y with the perfect hint of salt. Delicious. Strawberry Ice Cream (Limited Edition) – 7/10 The white surface and colourful sprinkles are like something out of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate factory. Thus, on seeing that Grenade had released a PB&J bar, I audibly shrieked with excitement (I never said I was cool). I will definitely be eating this on the regular, but it gets an 8.5 because in the end, it is just a chocolate crunch with orange flavouring… Birthday Cake 5/10 However, in terms of the protein bars, please AVOID Peanut Nutter, White Chocolate Salted Peanut and Peanut Butter & Jelly flavours if you are allergic, as they all contain peanuts.

The orange flavour is just right with this one – it’s not artificial or bitter, and it doesn’t overpower the chocolate flavour. I would have liked something a little more different from the standard Carb Killa range than simply the addition of orange flavour – surely if you’re going to call something ‘Jaffa’ you need a jelly layer… Who doesn’t love chocolate? This bar should be every chocoholic’s dream, but I can’t help thinking how different it can realistically be from the Fudge Brownie flavour… I’ve been vegetarian all my life – that’s 35 years. People said it would be bacon, or I’d cave in when I saw a “real steak”. It was none of these things. It was these demon bars, that tasted so bloody good that I had to eat more.Each Grenade Protein Shake contains less than 211 calories per 330ml bottle. HOW MUCH PROTEIN IN A PROTEIN SHAKE? One thing I will flag is something I’ve noticed in all Grenade’s more recent offerings – the slightly higher carb count. cent could not take me to the candy shop like this bar could. This was the hands-down favourite of the 4-year-old and the 40-year-old. This is a triumph of a bar that remains largely free of sugar but looks like something I’d want to eat at a party. The Vibe : The crushed peanuts add an authentic peanut flavour and add a light crunch which does well not to disrupt the overall creaminess of the bar.
