About this deal

We found it to be far more agile than the Dyson V7 Trigger, for example, which is bulkier and struggles in tight spots. But the trade-off is that the Hoover holds around 75% less dirt than the Dyson, so you need to empty it much more frequently. Unfortunately, this is an unnecessarily messy task (more on that later). The dusting brush is a good size for cleaning blinds, for example, while being gentle enough for a computer keyboard. The crevice tool is also useful for cleaning under furniture or in tight locations, while the regular nozzle is fine for floors. But it really is only good for small jobs, like toast crumbs on the countertop or dried mud in the hallway. The short battery life, mediocre suction, and tiny dust canister mean it’s not suitable for anything bigger. The Hoover is stored with the handle facing up, so it’s easy to grab in a cleaning emergency, and turning it on also activates the LED headlight. It doesn’t use a trigger switch like Dyson cordless vacuums, so you don’t need to hold it down to maintain power. Manoeuvrability and Ease of Use We found that the design of the 3-in-1 tool was less convenient than the Shark WV200UK though. Instead of a flip-down brush, you need to push the brush along the crevice tool to use it. Whenever we tried to do this with the tool attached, we also pulled off the entire tool, as there was nothing clipping it into place.

Competition is growing in this area, however. If you have a Vax ONEPWR vacuum cleaner, then the Vax ONEPWR Cordless Hand Vac comes barebones (no battery), and offers up to 25 minutes of runtime; it also has a bigger bin. It’s half the price of the H-Handy 700, making it a bargain for ONEPWR owners. If I have one minor complaint it’s that you don’t get a wider tool with this model, so larger areas can take a little longer to clean. YOU'RE spoilt for choice when shopping for a handheld vacuum cleaner these days, with the latest model we've got our hands on being the Hoover H-Handy 700 Express. In short, both of these Hoovers are the same cleaner but with different accessories. The Pet model includes an extra motorised nozzle with a velvet-like agitator for pulling up pet hair. This disturbs the fibres of fabrics, cleaning them deeper than a non-motorised nozzle. A downside to the Hoover’s design is the fiddly 3-in-1 attachment. You have to adapt the setup each time to change to the accessory you want, which is less convenient than having separate tools. This is a small issue though – and makes storing the attachment easier.

Thinking of buying the Hoover H-Handy 700 Express? Read our in-depth review to find out whether this handheld vacuum is worth buying. We also found that it struggled to clean carpets, pet hair, and other tougher jobs. And we really hope that Hoover re-thinks the messy emptying system for their next handheld vacuum! To empty the bin you have to hold down the button on the top, and then snap the vacuum in half. You then need to detach the filter from inside the bin before you can empty the debris. Good product [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this ideally for the car but found myself and all the family using it in the home too, great for any small area! Comes with a handy tool attachment to get in them hard to reach places. The battery may require a reset and thiscan be done easilyby removingthe batteryfrom the handle of the product and then simply re fitting it. The red light will turn blue when the battery is fully charged.

The short run time is also apparent when cleaning a car interior. You’ll need to act fast to get a whole car cleaned before the battery runs out. And, unless your car is already very clean, it will involve several empties of the dust canister. Accessing the Hoover’s filter is straightforward, as you just need to press a button on the top of the vacuum. The filters are washable and should be cleaned on a monthly basis. Hoover also provides a brush for getting rid of dirt on the filters, which is a useful extra. Emptying and Cleaning In terms of charging, Hoover say it'll take the H-Handy three hours to charge from flat to full. Hoover H-Handy 700: The verdictHoover says the H-Handy will go for 12 minutes from full charge, which may not sound like a lot, but it's actually more than you'll get from comparable models from Shark. For instance: the comparatively priced Shark WV200UK goes for just eight minutes on a full charge, although in our testing, we ran the Hoover from fully charged to flat and it took 10 minutes and eight seconds before it gave out. It seems like decent value as a stylish cleaning accessory, although there are cheaper, more rough and ready handheld vacuums to be found. The ultra lightweight nature of the H-Handy makes it a good option for cleaning stairs. However, the small nozzle is time-consuming, so we’d suggest using the dusting brush attachment. It would have been nice to see a motorised attachment included, particularly for carpeted stairs. Front LED cleaning light– Allows greater visibility so you never miss even the tiniest of crumbs, ideal for use in shadows under furniture.
