Please note that all of these variations are amazing, but some are just more beginner-friendly than others. So, continue reading to find your perfectly boozy match. Best Soju Flavor (Our Fav) Grapefruit combines wonderfully with the original soju flavour to create a fruity drink that leans more towards bitter than sweet, ideal for pairing with almost any dish! Like most widely distributed soju brands, Good Day offers flavored versions of its flagship product (our favorites being pineapple and melon) but the Good Day claim to fame lies in the waters of Masan, an area known for its cleanliness. Made entirely of rice, Good Day's soju also undergoes ten filtrations and a 72-hour long distillation process which includes the liquid's infusion with oxygen, resulting in a cleaner, clearer end-product. Small enough to hold in one hand, the standard Korean soju shot glass is 50 millilitres(ml). This is a bit bigger than shot glasses in other countries, which are more typically 25ml or 35ml.

This drink charms us with its odd balance of bitterness and sweetness. It is not as bitter as the pomegranate version, yet it is not that sweet. It is our version of the perfect summer booze, as it's the most refreshing when served cold. Plus, having it with ice will allow its naturally tart taste to shine through. Pair it with your favorite spicy or savory ramyeon, and you'll get a divine combo. Our favorite combo? Hands down has to be with kimchi ramen. Peach There is more than 1 way to skin a horse or, in this instance, make Asian plum wine. In the recipe card below, I've shared 2 ways to make plum wine. The 1st way produces Japanese plum wine after a minimum of 3 months whilst the 2nd gives you both plum syrup (also known as Korean maesil-cheong) AND plum wine. HiteJinro: This brand is a mash-up of two popular Korean alcohol brands, Hite and Jinro. It is well-known for its refreshing flavour and is frequently served with Korean barbeque or other grilled meats.

Plain soju is actually the most consumed alcohol in Korea. Its neutral and smooth taste makes it a good pair with everything else. Sauces – Soju can be used as a base for sauces, such as a stir-fry sauce or dipping sauce. Mix Soju with soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and chili flakes for a sweet and spicy sauce that goes well with grilled meats or vegetables. It is one of the soju flavors ranked highly in our list mainly because it is so easy to drink. Plus, this quaffable beverage is the perfect match for almost everything. You can pair it with anything spicy, grilled, or even your favorite dessert. This drink hardly disappoints. Green Grape After straining out your maesil-cheong, or plum syrup, store the liquid in the fridge. Leave the plums in the original glass jar then pour the alcohol over, making sure all the plums are covered. If you’ve tried green tea and didn’t like it, chances are you either had cheap tea or you burned the leaves. Don’t worry, we’ve all been there! It is widely available and relatively inexpensive, with prices ranging from around 1,000 to 10,000 Korean won per bottle depending on the brand and size. Shot glasses are – as the name suggests – generally made of glass. While they come in other materials, such as ceramic, this is more unusual – but this can look great for decoration, and be a great way to impress your friends with an unusual glass of soju.
