i had Sony A7s/Atomos Shogun combo, it performs good, i am extreamly satisfied with it but i need longer runtime. i found a very good portble V oumt battery for this, it powers my camera very well over 11 hours,if you are relatively conservative about turning the camera/Shogun power off between setups,. The battery also comes with a wall plug for self-charging so no extra charger is needed. I've only been using this battery for about a month now, but I am extremely happy with it thus far. Handling-wise, the A7 II resembles a downsized DSLR, with a forward-placed shutter release button and front control wheel. It also has a deeper, more comfortable handgrip than its forebear. No, the company going bust is Olympus. Their medical endoscope business keeps them alive. Several of their board members are under investigation for fraud. On the still images side, the Sony Alpha A7 II supports uncompressed 14-Bit raw image capture. This feature came later into the camera's life by way of the firmware 2.0 update that released on November 18. Before it, the Sony Alpha A7S II and A7R II both supported uncompressed raw shooting. Thank you for the review of this camera. I was waiting for it to be online, because I really was thinking about buying this camera.

I think is clear what I prioritize on a camera (fast AF, low light performances, size and weight, unintrusive look, etc.). A2 at 12MP is fine for stuff viewed at a distance. For wedding albums viewed up close, it does not meet my needs or the customers' expectations. I agree with one of the comments that cameras these days are all amazing in terms of quality, performance that we are just splitting hairs! I'm having trouble with shooting true color with indoor lighting, no flash, just trying to set-up the CUSTOM WHITE BALANCE. I respectfully disagree. Fine details like hair and skin detail just don't resolve at 12MP. That's why medium format cameras are used for studio product shots of the highest level. If 12MP or 18MP were enough, there'd be no need for MF, right?Overall, the A7 Mark II is an eminently capable option for the enthusiast or even pro photographer, and it’s a perfect vector for jumping aboard Sony’s system. Autofocus and start-up times are also up to 40% faster than those on the A7, the former thanks to a 117-point phase-detect AF system that works in combination with 25-point contrast-detect AF, ensuring sharpness no matter where the subject lies in the frame. This should be easily a compensation for not having a 2.8 zoom, is not like most people shoot 6400 all the time. Oh yes there is the Bokeh everyone is so over doing which I think is better done with a long fast prime.

The automatic white balance system is also a good performer, and can be relied upon in a wide range of lighting conditions. As usual, it struggles a bit under some artificial lighting, but it’s easy to set a Custom white balance value. While the A7 II’s tilting screen is useful when shooting low-level landscape-orientation images, like most screens it suffers a little from reflections and glare in very bright conditions. And of course, a tilting screen is of little use when shooting upright format images. You wouldn't necessarily say this was one of the best Sony cameras today, given the technical advances that have happened since then, but it's ideal for anyone shopping around for the cheapest full frame cameras right now. Any full frame sensor will print A2 easily unless you are a real pixel peeper. I have great A2, even A1 images from my 6Mp Fuji S2 Pro. Yes more Mp gives more detail but 12Mp is quite enough - unless you want to heavily crop. Also the A7s better in low light (a big plus) with smaller files and less demanding of lenses. The a7 II is one of those cameras you'd be better off holding in your hand before buying. Our staff was fairly split down the middle between those who thought its design was better than the original a7's and those who thought it was worse.

To compensate for the increased weight of the a7 II, the size and depth of the grip has been increased, resulting in a very comfortable camera to hold. The front and rear facing control dials have been substantially shrunken down and recessed into the camera body, making it nearly impossible to accidentally nudge them without knowing it, a frequent complaint of a7 users. Just below the shutter release, at the top of the grip, you’ll find a small protruding dial that’s used for exposure adjustments. There are also customisable buttons, but, oddly, the rear LCD here isn’t a touch-sensitive panel. That said, it’s all about the quality of the Mark II’s images, and in this respect it doesn’t disappoint. The camera produces detailed images in a range of conditions, and it’s capable of delivering plenty of punch. Image noise is kept well under control until ISO 6400, although at ISO 12,800 and 25,600, noise reduction applied to JPEGs starts to take its toll. Don't worry it'll be obsolete in 6 months. (General statement for every mirrorless camera Sony makes) Bad review. Concerning IS, the ability to use slower shutter translates to either lower ISO or better DOF. These are real advantages, and not just when wanting to hand-hold. Put a long lens on a camera on a tripod, and you have shake. You end up either using higher ISO than is desirable, or larger aperture. IS helps greatly. Also, in situations where IS will help with picture quality, it also helps with autofocus. With the a7II, if you find a lens you like but it doesn't have IS, no worries. Better AF too of course. But mainly an easier and faster way to select focus point. I shoot all kinds of subjects and no problems - oh, I use mostly MF lenses....

You could be forgiven for thinking that it’s an SLR with a mirror slapping out of the way before the shutter opens. The bigger-sized grip was one thing we all did agree upon, though. It counteracts the added weight of the camera nicely. It's also just plain comfortable to hold in, even in one hand. That is, until you try and change the incredibly-tiny, recessed front and rear command dials. The Final Word Enlarged display mode (L: 18.8x, M: 12.3x, S: 9.4x, Panorama (Standard): 25.6x, Panorama (Wide): 38.8x) A f/1.4 series of 24, 35, 50, 85 and of course the 135 f/1.8. Sony can price-gouge those wanting these lenses.
