It’s worth noting here that while the 50UK4D63DB always looks better than expected with dark HDR (and, actually, SDR) scenes, it benefits more than usual from receiving Dolby Vision signals whenever you can find them. The Toshiba UF3D has a variety of connectivity options that make it easy to connect to other devices. When it comes to OLED vs QLED, there are a lot of discussions over which is better, with both having their advantages and disadvantages. However, 8K resolution is still in its early stages, and content that supports this resolution is limited. It is expected that 8K content will become more widely available, but for now, the 4K resolution of the Toshiba UF3D provides an excellent viewing experience. HDR Technology There’s no local dimming system to deliver local light controls, but this isn’t surprising at all at the 55QA5D63DB’s price point.The television also has built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, which makes it easy to access streaming services and other online content. It also has Bluetooth connectivity, which allows users to connect to external speakers or headphones. Compatibility You can improve things marginally – and we do mean marginally – by tinkering with the Adaptive Luma and Local Contrast controls. But even with the 55QA5D63DB’s contrast optimised as much as possible, very dark scenes in beloved films are honestly difficult to watch. There are, to be fair, one or two more picture areas where the 55QA5D63DB does pretty well. Its native 4K pictures are crisp and sharp (a touch too much in its Vivid and Standard picture presets, perhaps), and the sharpness doesn’t break down badly when there’s motion in the frame. Nor is there any of the overt smearing or excessive judder we still often see on budget TVs, even with 24p movie sources. The Toshiba UF3D is a 50-inch Smart Fire TV that combines the latest in television technology with the convenience of streaming services. With its sleek design and numerous features, this television is an excellent option for anyone looking for a top-of-the-line viewing experience. Technology When it comes to supported content, the young at heart will be happy to find Twitch and TikTok apps on the 50UK4D63DB’s app list, and those six direct app access buttons on the remote are welcome shortcuts. It’s a real shame, though, that Toshiba has not yet been able to persuade Disney+ or Apple TV to join the 50UK4D63DB’s cause.
