While we understand that being without your pram is inconvenient, we do not have any capacity to provide a pushchair or pram lending service. Little Angels Prams act only as a go-between, your warranty is with the brand who manufactures your pushchair. This fun-loving design from Infantino is a brilliant value-for-money high chair that converts into a booster and toddler seat. Naturally, thanks to its engaging and colourful design, it proved a hit with our one-year-old tester, but it’s great for parents, too. Following six months of liquid breakfasts, lunches and dinners, your baby may be ready for weaning. That means it’s time to buy the best high chair you can find.

Kinderkraft Wooden Highchair 3 in 1 ENOCK, Multifunctional

We spend hours researching, speaking to parents, analysing data and listening to experts before we test out the products on our shortlist. At the inexpensive end of the spectrum are the budget chairs. These tend to be standalone highchairs (intended to be used by themselves using a plastic tray, instead of being pulled up to a table), short on adjustability features and elaborate design – favouring instead a functional simplicity that often, incidentally, means they’re much easier to clean. The relevant safety directive to look out for is EU directive EN 14988:2017, which specifically sets out standards for children’s highchairs. They are also, of course, the most expensive – and be aware that, in this group in particular, you’ll need to pay extra for everything except the chair frame itself (including newborn accessories, baby seats, trays and even safety harnesses), so make sure this is included in your budget. Key specs – Height: 96cm; Weight: 14.8kg Other: 5-point safety harness; detachable 2-part tray, 360° spinning seat; Age: 6 months to 3 years (max weight, 15kg)

One of the more expensive high chairs on our list, the Cosatto’s 3Sixti2 features all the bells and whistles other high chairs can only dream of.

The high chair is easy to clean even after the most exciting dinner time. All you need to do is wipe it with a damp cloth, and then dry off with a paper towel. The life-span of your chair will depend on the type of model you choose, as some are intended to be used throughout childhood and beyond (see section below). You’re likely to find a chair with a tray essential from first weaning up to the age of three. Transparency is really important to us and that's why we're always upfront about how we tested the products we recommend. We won't always recommend the cheapest products, or the ones with the most extra features. We write about products that we feel offer the best value to most parents – the one's we'd recommend to our own friends and family. Most of our prams and pushchairs include a manufacturer’s warranty. This means that for the time period of the warranty, if something goes wrong you are entitled to request a repair.

So you’ve chosen a high chair, now what? Regardless of whether you’re spoon-feeding your baby or going down the path of baby-led weaning, there are a couple of essentials you’ll need. These include bowls, spoons, a cup and bibs. It helps to have at least two of each so one can be washed while the other is being used. There are dozens of options to choose from, but we recommend a pair of plastic, bamboo, or silicone bowls; a plate with compartments; a pair of training spoons; a sippy cup; a pair of bibs with a catch tray (also typically made of silicone); and a pair of wearable bibs for when you’re ready to let them get messy. You could also opt for a weaning mat, which sits underneath the high chair to catch all the falling food to make cleaning up that little bit easier. How we test high chairs Our only gripe? This perhaps isn’t the easiest chair to store when it isn’t in use. The wheels on the bottom of the legs are great for moving it around the house, but aren’t ideal for storage. The legs also flare out quite a bit, so you’d likely need to unclip all the parts and store them separately if you’re tight on space. We have the Mountain Buggy one for use away from home - it’s brilliant. A little big for our 8 month old still but it works fine." Recommended by Mumsnetter BerthaYoung Our verdict Big gap between tray and the baby, even in its closest setting – a little inconvenient for mealtimes Postcodes applicable: HS1-9, IV40-51, IV55-56, KA27-28, KW15-17, PA20, PA41-49, PA60-78, PH42-44, ZE1-3Another Stokke chair to feature on our list, the Steps is a stylish highchair that can be used from birth. There's no doubt about it, it's a pricey piece of baby equipment but for the price tag you get a good quality high chair that your child will get plenty of use out of. Key specs – Height: 83.5cm; Weight: 4.68kg; Other: Optional newborn set, baby set, harness, and cushion; Age: Birth to adult (max weight, 150kg)
