About this deal

Make sure that the surface that you’re treating is always wet. In other words, be liberal with the application of OxiClean. You don’t want the solution to dry up on the surface. Unlike OxiClean, borax is not a brand; it’s an ingredient used to formulate products. It’s used in various household cleaning products and stain removers, and it’s also found in specialty toothpaste, skincare products, and even ceramic glazes. Here’s a list of 19 popular products containing borax. You can see here how dirty our carpets were. The left side is the cleaned carpet and the right is still dirty. The light spot to the right is where I had cleaned up a pet stain earlier in the week. When you mix OxiClean and water, you’ll hear and see fizzing. Those oxygen bubbles help loosen and remove stains from fabrics, hence the name OxiClean. Borax is a naturally occurring chemical compound composed of boron, sodium, and oxygen. It’s found all over the world but most commonly in dry lake beds.

Finally, there’s the scent. It’s a pleasant scent, but right out of the box, it’s strong. And, we highly recommend doing the pre-soak in a well-ventilated space. The powerful fumes began filling the house, so we closed our laundry room door. Interestingly, when it’s added to the wash water, it’s not bad at all. After the clothes dried, they definitely have a strong scent but not a bad one. The bathroom sink, especially a porcelain one, can tend to get quite nasty over time. You see a lot of discoloration around the drain and the overflow hole. Just apply the concentrate solution to both areas, let it sit for a few minutes, then scrub it with a cleaning toothbrush. You’ll see all sorts of nastiness come out of there! Finally, give it a really good rinse and polish with a microfiber cloth. Carpet Stains (Spot Cleaner) Don’t forget about periodically cleaning your trash cans – it’s kind of gross what ends up in there even if you do line them with a bag. Our trash cans got a good cleaning last month when we were working on cleaning and organizing the garage. To clean, make up a solution of OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover and hot water {use 1 scoop filled to line 4 with every gallon of water}. Apply the solution with a cloth or brush – I use a stiff bristled brush on a pole to get down to the bottom – and scrub as needed. Rinse it down with the hose and it’s good as new! If you need to spot clean your baby carrier, grab some OxiClean baby product and just make up your spot clean solution. Use a cleaning toothbrush to apply it to the affected surface. I often use this to clean the straps and it works like a charm. Make sure to give it a good rinse with a damp microfiber cloth to make sure all extra product has been removed.a b McCoy, Michael (2003-01-20). "Diverging Trends Drive Percarbonate". Mays is the public face of OxiClean, a stain-removing powder marketed by Orange Glo International, a small but fast-growing cleaning products company that sells its wares partly over the Internet. OxiClean, launched in 1997, is a mixture of sodium percarbonate and sodium carbonate sold in a plastic tub. It's promoted as a household cleaner and laundry detergent booster with amazing stain-destroying properties. To use OxiClean on hard surfaces, fill the scoop to line 4 and add it to a gallon of warm water. Apply using a cloth or sponge and let stand for 5-30 minutes. Scrub if necessary and rinse well with warm water. Whether you’re removing stains from clothes or cleaning hard surfaces in your home, borax and OxiClean are go-to products. But what’s the difference? When should you use each? Is one safer or more effective than the other?

Borax has several uses, but it’s associated mostly with laundry. It can be used as a spot-stain remover or as a detergent aid. Bottom line — borax and OxiClean are both highly effective and inexpensive. But if you’re on the fence, go with Oxiclean. If you are using OxiClean with laundry, fill the scoop between lines 2-4 per gallon of warm water. Submerge your clothing in the water and let it soak for up to 6 hours. Then wash as directed. Also, when borax mixes with water, it converts some of the water molecules into hydrogen peroxide. This bleaching agent brightens stains, making borax even more effective. Make sure that you’re always using hot water to mix up your solutions, this way the product can completely dissolve. If you need to use the solution on something where cold water is necessary, that’s fine, whip up the solution and then let it cool.

One of the active ingredients in OxiClean is sodium percarbonate (Na 2CO 3•H 2O 2), an adduct of sodium carbonate (Na 2CO 3) and hydrogen peroxide (H 2O 2). [3] This breaks down into hydrogen peroxide when dissolved in water. These ingredients break down safely in the environment and leave no toxic byproducts. [4]

Carpet With Oxiclean and Vinegar 3 Ways How To Cleaning Carpet With Oxiclean and Vinegar

I’ve actually used OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover for years in my regular laundry routine. Extra stain-fighting power is always needed around here. I didn’t really realize though, how many different cleaning tasks it can be used for. I’ve been really happy with all of the results, and OxiClean™ has come to my rescue many times! When using borax for laundry, add a tablespoon of borax per gallon to warm water and pre-soak your clothes for 30 minutes. Alternatively, add ½ cup of borax to your washing machine and run the pre-soak cycle. The PH scale measures the acidity and alkalinity of a solution. It ranges from 1-14, with 1 the most acidic and 14 the most alkaline; 7 is neutral. We got a lot of new outdoor furniture this year when we re-did our patio, but had a few pieces that we wanted to keep from our old patio furniture. Unfortunately, they had quite a bit of staining on them from the rough winter we had and they really stood out against the new furniture. After a good cleaning with the OxiClean™ solution, however, they looked as good as new. To clean, fill the scoop to line 4 and mix with one gallon of hot water. Apply the solution with a rag or sponge and scrub as needed. Rinse it down with the hose and dry.OxiClean’s Versatile Stain Remover Powder can be used to fight tough stains on laundry, carpet, upholstery, and other fabric. I used an empty drinking water bottle with a convenient sports nozzle, so I could simply squirt the blend all over my stairs. Just as the instructions prescribed, I doused each spot and waited for 5-30 minutes. I then rinsed each spot with fresh water and blotted the excess moisture with a paper towel. When I to be shopping for new carpet , and the Expert carpet cleaning at the carpet store told me that it’s important when cleaning stains, to make sure you totally rinse the stained area after cleaning. The only problem is that OxiClean got my carpet too clean. On the stairs and on the former paint spot, there were sparkling white patches that made an obvious stand against the wall to wall expanse of dingy floor covering.
