The camera does have a LCD counter and battery display The only remaining controls are a rocker switch for the zoom and the shutter button. The idea behind these dual-lens modes was that the wider lens was for snapshots and landscapes, the closer lens was for more flattering portraits. Other features include a 38-60mm zoom lens, 5-point autofocusing with Ai-AF, direct zoom viewfinder, and a mode dial on the camera back. Fortunately, it’s incredibly easy to find information about any of the Sure Shot models that didn’t make it onto this list.

Weight: While every model is decently lightweight, the oldest model on the list weighs almost twice as much as the newest model. Otherwise, the Canon Sure Shot 85 Zoom features most of the same specs as the handful of zoom models above. My main problem with the 60 Zoom wasn’t the camera, it was the arrival of a Pentax Espio AF Zoom a few days later in a Job lot. The Japanese edition comes equipped with a panorama mask, enabling photographers to capture wide-angle shots.

As a result, I find that they cater to more deliberate, artistic photography, particularly in a studio setting. The Canon Sure Shot 60 Zoom, with its vintage aesthetic and range of features, offers a unique blend of style and functionality. You can’t change the ISO, you can’t change the shutter speed or aperture, you can’t even turn off the flash (but electrical tape comes in handy). While the majority of later Canon Sure Shots came in silver with black accents, the 70 Zoom had a sleek, all-black finish.

The camera front’s metallic-silver finish and the flat profile make this fully automatic zoom compact camera look fashionable. I recommend this camera for first-timers to analog photography and those looking to get back into shooting on film. I brought my Canon SURE SHOT MULTI TELE (yes, ALL CAPS) on my trip around Europe as my main “pocketable” camera.The electromagnetic programmed shutter and aperture are automated, taking the guesswork out of the equation for novice photographers. The original Canon Sure Shot was a great success, notably one of the first 35mm point and shoot cameras to feature autofocus.
