She reviews the Seasons of the Witch: Samhain and Yule oracle decks, which can be used when healing with this archetype. cards is a workable amount, and if there were more, I think I’d feel obliged to ensure I worked through each one within the sabbat’s period, which would probably end up stealing my enjoyment.
For centuries ancient healers have celebrated the restorative energy of the Yuletide festival, the traditional harsh winters reminding us of our impressive ability to weather tough storms and find support and comfort with loved ones. Mabon, the autumn equinox, is a time of balance, slowing down, evaluation, surrender, transition, creating boundaries, letting go, clearing blocks, developing new perspectives, and preparing for winter. Overall, I find this is what’s most appealing about this oracle series, and in terms of my spiritual practice, know it will add new depth to my workings. I don’t draw a card every day, but prefer to leave it sitting on my altar until I feel I’ve worked through the message and am ready for the next. We’ll explore this beautiful new edition to my seasonal collection as we walk through the cards, check out the guidebook and pull a card for a reading from the book. This sabbat is also the most suited for solitary spiritual work, where you turn inward and focus on your own hopes and dreams. This deck first pulled me in by it’s witchy aesthetic that is a little Charles Addams, a little Edward Gorey, and a whole lot of visual intuition and expressive magic. Imbolc is associated with patience, hope, transitions, and beginning the ascent back to the light after the darkness of the winter months, this is the perfect season to represent the self.

This oracle is your path to deep reflection and tranquility and is a promise of the brighter days to come. The card reads ‘There’s death in all that awakens’ which I feel captures the feeling of the deck beautifully. She believes magic lives within us all, and feels passionately about inspiring others to step into their truth and wake up to their remembrance. While I know the first deck in this series, Season of the Witch: Samhain Oracle, might be more appropriate for the current season, I haven’t made the switch just yet. However, once I started working with it and exploring the themes I realised that it had actually come at the perfect time for me.The themes and ideas in each deck are perfectly in-tune with the seasons and time of year they represent. Evocative guidance from Lorriane Anderson of Spirit Element guides you through your readings and the history and lore of Samhain celebrations, complete with spells and recipes. Samhain is one of the most potent and magical nights of the year for performing divination, ritual and spells. Her other works include; Affirmations: Words of Inner Wisdom, The Earthcraft Oracle and Happiness: Words of Inner Joy. The lidded box is sturdy with a matt finish and a full moon illustration on the inside, while the cards have a semi-gloss finish.
