The writing is great, it's easy to get into, and I'd say I'm more interested in the side characters. I was horrified when it was described and especially how her mother/father knew about it all and what she was being forced to do and yet they didn't care and believed it to be his wifely duties. stars, rounded up because I’m stoked she started in the h’s POV, and this hero never once said he’d like to choke her with his c*ck. I don’t think he handled it well, not the part when he was being mean to her or when he was brooding and feeling bad for it.

This book is the first book I've ever read by Gabrielle and she had exceeded my expectations so although I really don't like using Goodreads , I HAD to leave a review cuz this book is WOW .

Mafia princess, Valentina, is on the run from her horrible husband who she was forced to marry and her family. The MMC's ( Damiano ) tragic past got me shedding tears and how he grew to this wise , rational and powerful man was mind-blowing . The writing style worked for me, but I did feel like it was missing intensity, despite the dramatic start.Note: When She Unravels is an 18+ dark mafia romance with mature themes, profanity, and plenty of steam. When She Unravels is a dark mafia romance that I thought was okay, but the potential is there, especially with the characters, our heroine, who I wish was much more developed.

I wanted the author to allow a little more give in the PC stuff so that the H could be more aggressive and intense. there were a few other little plot twists towards the end that were so anxiety inducing that i was literally talking to myself as i was reading. i feel like this was different from the other mafia romances that i’ve read and that’s why i truly enjoyed it as much as i did.I know she was always going to understand why he behaved as he did but *I* didn’t forgive him for his treatment of her so it made it hard to root for him. I was happy , angry , sad , shocked , all sorts of feelings and the plot twist was unpredictable for me . I really enjoyed the push and pull/tease and test of their initial relationship and just when you were lulled into a sense of familiarity…BAM! Some very highly rated mafia romances make absolutely zero sense from the mafioso’s perspective (making really dumb security decisions or just connections to the mafia life that are completely implausible).
