The kit consists of two parts, either a white or black base (primer) and the XL Crackle paste for the top layer.

Cracklé effect is coming out after 4-6 hours; if drying with hairdryer the Step 2 sets in 10 minutes. Its unique ratio of specific solids and binders allows for a “controlled failure” to occur and the result is its tendency to crack. Therefore, applications onto rigid supports such as wooden panels, sheetrock (decorative/faux finish applications) or hardboard are recommended.

This medium is opaque, so can't be applied over the top of existing work to give it a crackled appearance. The drying time is influenced by the climate condition (+/- humidity) and by the thickness of the product.

Mix it with acrylic colours prior to application or after, or combine with other Golden gels to seal the Golden Crackle Paste before painting over it. They can also act as adhesives in collage and mixed media that dry to form continuous films with excellent flexibility with chemical, water and UV resistance. The size and extent of the crackle pattern is dependent on many factors, including the thickness of application and the environmental conditions (temperature, relative humidity and air flow) during drying. Golden Crackle Paste is a thick, opaque cracking material designed to develop deep fissure-like cracks as it cures. This product is sold in various sizes and is comprised of pure acrylate dispersion, fillers, additives, water.The size and extent of the cracking pattern depends on the thickness of application, and environmental conditions during drying and other factors.
