The cover makes it look like more of a classic, period-type romance book when it's in fact largely set in 2017. Finn's relationship with his mother in particular pulled at the heartstrings and I very nearly shed a tear (it takes a lot to make me cry at a book) The romance potential may have fallen flat for me but the emotions were there in other ways and I would have preferred the side stories were the main focus. Convinced it will always be this way they make a pact – to go to university together, always live near each other, and if they’re both single at 35 they’ll get married.

This book actually does end on a hopeful note for the characters, but as a reader I found it hard to envision that hope translating into a happy future together.I loved how poetic many of the conversations went, which makes the whole narrative feel very artful.

I was very impressed with this book and the real feelings Mason was able to transmit through the pages. The H feels attacked and decides to travel around the world to get away from his broken family and their interventions.What makes this book resonate is its honesty, and the care with which this complicated love triangle is crafted. Life has run away from them and they're both far from where they'd dreamt of being all those years ago.
