Nik and Norva are two very different siblings with one big thing in common. They are detectives! They are nosey, gobby and always on the lookout for a new mystery. Only it hits a bit too close to home when they find friend and art teacher Hugo dead! But who done it!? All the evidence points to their dad, but when he is arrested, they are under pressure to prove his innocence. High Rise Mystery has won a number of awards including Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in the Younger Readers category in 2020, which was beyond. Music is hugely important in our lives – whether we’re listening or playing an instrument ourselves. Here are some brilliant books that will have readers of 8+ tapping their feet in appreciation. I love this book because it has everything- mystery, murder, action and excitement. I love it! My fave character is probably Norva, because of how funny she was, but I also really lked I did think it was funny everyone in the community knew about a certain thing… but our kid detectives? Totally oblivious. XD High Rise". British Film Institute. Archived from the original on 8 September 2015 . Retrieved 15 December 2015.a b c Russell, Anna (5 May 2016).

How they were set on one person after a while. And then discounted others because of an emotional bond. That is like the one rule in mystery stuff, never trust anyone. Everyone can have done it. I would have given this a 4.5 if it was an option. Personally I’d have liked more action in it as there were a lot of conversations. But it was a good story overall. Winner of the Younger Readers' category of the Waterstones Children's Book Prize 2020 | Longlisted for the UKLA Book Awards 2020 | Longlisted for the Branford Boase Award 2020British producer Jeremy Thomas had wanted to make a film adaptation of J. G. Ballard's High-Rise since the 1970s. [9] He tried to make it in the late 1970s with Nicolas Roeg directing from a script by Paul Mayersberg. [10] [11] In the 2000s, Thomas began developing the project with screenwriter Richard Stanley and director Vincenzo Natali, with the film intended as a loose adaptation of the novel. [12] Three months earlier, the 40-storey tower on the outskirts of London, built by esteemed architect Anthony Royal, is the epitome of chic, modern living. Wealthy residents live on the top floors, and poorer residents live below. With amenities including a pool, gym, spa, supermarket and primary school, the occupants have little reason to leave the building beyond working hours and become increasingly isolated from the outside world. Laing, who moves onto the 25th floor after his sister dies, begins a sexual relationship with single mother Charlotte Melville and becomes a father figure to her son, Toby. Laing also befriends documentary filmmaker Richard Wilder and his pregnant wife Helen, who live in a low-level apartment with their children. While Laing leads a physiology class in examining a severed head, a student named Munrow faints and is given a precautionary brain scan. The next day, Laing is taken to the 40th-storey penthouse to meet Royal, who invites him to a party thrown by his snobby wife, Ann.
